How can you not order prata here? The Egg Prata & Cheese Prata are great to satisfy your prata cravings!

The indian-style Maggi Goreng is slightly spicy and savoury, much to my taste. The portion was just right too.

If you are around Bukit Gombak, you can come to this place easily as it is located opposite the MRT station.

"Volcano" ramen! Smile Dec 08, 2013

For the full review and more photos, please visit http://makanarts.com/2013/12/04/tonkotsu-kazan-ramen-square-2/

Having passed by Tonkotsu Kazan Ramen a lot of times, I finally have the chance to visit this place for dinner. Originated from Osaka, Japan, this place is famous for their kazan (volcanic) ramens, where their famed tonkotsu broth is poured onto the ramen on a stone bowl and cooked until the steam comes out (which according to them is volcanic eruption!). They have also opened their second outlet at Liang Court 3 months ago!

The Kazan Curry is one of the variants of kazan ramen with the specially blended curry paste being added to the tonkotsu broth. The portion is rather huge so it can be shared by 2 people (or even 1 if you have a huge appetite). The curry is fragrant and rich in flavour. The noodles are rather chewy and springy (althoughly slightly soggy as well). Probably the only downside is the portion of the noodle is rather little, as compared to a whole lot of vegetables inside (especially beansprouts).

The Yaki Gyoza is rather soft (as opposed to most places having it crispy) and full of fillings, but taste rather normal and missable.

Although this is a small restaurant, this place is a great place to have ramen if you are within the Novena area.

Opened along one of the HDB flats at Old Airport, the whitish exterior is sure to arouse people especially drivers (it is facing a T-junction)

They even have baking lessons here! Half of the shop space is used for this purpose.

The Cappuccino is thick and has the right amount of milk added.

The Flat White is rather thick and has the right amount of milk added to it. I would prefer this over the Cappuccino for its milder use of espresso, yet maintaining its thickness of the coffee.

The Blossom is a rose cake with raspberry cream cheese and caramelised pistachios, topped with a raspberry. Being one of their best sellers, this will not disappoint. The rose taste was rather mild tasting, although this was covered by the raspberry cream cheese, which tasted sweet and creamy. It is also rather soft.

If you are around the Old Airport area, this place is a great and quiet alternative to get a cup of coffee.

For the full review and more photos, please visit http://makanarts.com/2013/12/03/catch-n-bite-westgate/

Today marks the first day of opening at Westgate. Being the same as Jem, Westgate offers some shops and brands that are first-in-Singapore, unique only to the Orchard area and startups.

Catch 'n Bite is one of the new startups. Opened as a fast-food take-away booth, it offers sandwiches at affordable prices. The sandwich can also be upgraded to a meal for an additional $3 (consisting of a side and a can of drink). The sides are also available as an a-la-carte.

I ordered the Crunching Crab Po' Boy. The crab is very crispy and I also noted they used the crab parts in the process as the shell could be tasted. The pickles and the sauce made the whole experience better by enhancing its taste.

Although the Golden Fries looks like normal fries you can get at other fast-food chains, the fries here are slightly bigger and more filling.

If you want to get a sandwich, this is an affordable place to get one. Do take note their flavours are limited to seafood (hence the name Catch 'n Bite!)

Great coffee, quiet neighbourhood Smile Dec 03, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café

Along the stretch of the Sembawang Hill shophouses, lies this rather hidden cafe in this quiet estate. Being a franchise of the Australian outlet, you can expect the same services you get from there, here. That means, different types of coffee from all around the world and free coffee tasting!

The Flat White tasted great. It is rather thick and with the right amount of milk added, produces a coffee taste that is not too overwhelming.

The Carrot Cake is flavourful and slightly crumbly. Soft on the inside, crumbly on the outside.

For a quiet place to study and relax or talk about work, this place offers the environment to do so (and with its great coffee and cakes!).
