The Profiterole is a must order. Covered with chocolate ganache and whipped cream on top of a crusty pastry base, this is rather soft and flavourful.

The Flat White is the cup of coffee to order if you do not want your coffee to be less strong tasting.

The Kith Macchiato, being their signature drink, consist of a single shot of espresso, filled with a layer of foam, cocoa and topped with a marshmallow. This tasted great though if you expected a normal cup of macchiato, do be prepared to skip this.

The Coconut Macaron is one of their creations. This is crumbly with bits of grated coconut falling out with every bite. Great if you are ordering one to try (but not have more than that)

Ever feeling like having a ricebox whenever you are in Taiwan? Good news, it’s now available in Singapore. The leading ricebox chain in Taiwan, Woo Ricebox, has opened its first outlet in Ocean Financial Centre. The outlet here is managed by Royal T Group, who also manages leading milk tea chain Gong Cha.

The Woo Pork Chop Rice Box & Homemade Wintermelon Tea is great. The premium short-grain rice is specially imported from Chihshang, and comes with seasonal vegetables, pickles, half a braised egg and a main meat item (in this case being the pork chop). The portion of the pork chop is big and it is also meaty and juicy. Their wintermelon tea is also homemade and is refreshing to have while having the ricebox. One thing to note is the food is slightly on the dry side (which should be the case to prevent the food from getting soggy, especially when you are travelling around so your food will still taste great after that)

To get a reminisce of Taiwanese food, do come here as this place does it close enough to the riceboxes you can get in transit while in Taiwan.

The Hot Chocolate is excellent as the right amount of milk added ensured that the bitter taste of the cocoa is barely tasted while making it a warm and invigorating drink to have.

It is a great combination of coffee and milk taste for this Caffe Latte, as the bitter taste of the coffee is quickly covered by the milk and retaining its strong taste.

The Smoked Salmon Sandwich consist of a French Atlantic smoked salmon placed on a toasted country loaf, topped with garden greens, red onions with a citrus vinaigrette. The smoked salmon is cooked nicely and the loaf is toasted nicely.

The Eggs Benedict is well executed. The poached eggs is served with ham on an english muffin and is drizzled with hollandaise sauce and garden greens. The poached eggs was made perfectly as the yolk was runny and as I started to have my first bite the yolk broke off. The english muffin nicely complemented the eggs.

This place is within proximity to Botanic Gardens, the Bukit Timah campus of NUS and Gleneagles Hospital. If you’re around these areas, this place is a great place to have a cuppa coffee.

Great cafe at Eng Kong Terrace Smile Dec 13, 2013

When this place opened at Eng Kong Terrace, it has caused much hype (as this place is located in a rather inaccessible place). Since then, I had wanted to come here.

You can choose either 4oz, 6oz and 8oz for the Flat White ($5) (which I chose the 6oz variant). It tasted strong and thick and the right amount of milk added makes this one of the coffee that should be ordered here.

The Banana Nutella Panini is also great. Despite having it at night (like why would anyone not order food from the dinner menu instead?), the panini is nicely baked. The result is a nice tasting bread with sliced warm bananas covered with Nutella spread.

This is a suitable place to relax in with a cup of coffee in the day. Make sure not to visit during weekends if you are doing that (as they’re almost always full).

Halal western food at Jalan Kayu! Smile Dec 13, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Steaks and Grills | Halal | Kids-Friendly

Jalan Kayu has been famed for having the best roti prata in Singapore. Notwithstanding, it is also home to some renowned eateries that has chosen to grow its roots here. It is little wonder that one chef famous for his appearance in food programs aired by Suria has chosen Jalan Kayu to open his restaurant – Chef Amri.

The Inhouse Coffee looked and tasted like a single shot of espresso. The taste was not too strong but rather bitter.

The Beef Burger & Fries. The beef patty is juicy and came in a rather huge portion.

The Black Pepper Chicken resembles a bit like the Black Pepper Chicken at Aston’s, except that this tasted better. The veggies tasted flavourful (definitely the result of blanching them nicely before cooking then).

The Lemon Curd Tart is crusty and the lemon curd taste is strong (which reminds me of the taste of lemon biscuits). However, it was rather hard to eat this as the crust was rather hard and firm to cut off.

This is a great place to come for halal Western food. If you are around Jalan Kayu, this place is a good spot for dinner/supper (after which you can go for roti prata!)
