Porridge for dinner at Maxwell Smile Oct 15, 2013

Generally the food was a little on the salty side. I ordered taupok, veggie and salted egg.

As I only ate it alone but I wanted to eat salted egg, I had to get the whole egg. But the salted egg was salty enough, and the texture of the white was smooth and firm, and the yellow was powdery and savourily nice.

The taupok was good. The lu sauce that they had was mmmmmm flavourful and though salty, I felt that it was appropriate. The mix of herb flavours was perfect. Maybe next time I will try their lu pork. smile

The green veggies were too salty for my liking. But the serving was big and the veggie was fresh and crunchy. Overall still good despite the salt issue.

Recommended Dish(es):  taupok,porridge,salted egg

I ordered the chicken chop add spaghetti Bolognese and sides fries and baked beans. The blognese was weird. But it was very unlike usual where they will give me the tomato ssauce kind. This time it was only the meat. Felt like I was eating Dan Dan Mian. Oops. But the chicken chop is still good and the fries are nice.. but the tomato sauce, I don't know what brand they used but it taste weird. Like it doesn't have the regular tomato sauce feeling. Overall its a stisfactory meal for a reasonable price

Recommended Dish(es):  chicken chop plus spaghetti

Spending per head: Approximately $4(Lunch)

cold cut trio parmesan bread

cold cut trio parmesan bread

I ordered cold cut trio and I had the student meal set at $5.50 with cookie and all. The one I had was not toasted well so it was a little soggy and floppy. Initially it was bad, but after awhiile I enjoyed it as it was soft and easy to the mouth as compared to the toasted ones were sometimes hard and hurt the mouth! The cookie was a bit too sweet.. I ordered oatmeal raisin. But the texture is still consistent like the normal cookie

mocha frappe and banana&apricot soy muffin

mocha frappe and banana&apricot soy muffin

Mocha frappe is my usual frappe at Starbucks, its reliable, stable and always nice to drink. Really love the whipped cream from Starbucks. The banana and apricot soy muffin is the first time I tried it. I forgot what I ordered but when I ate the small stuff inside I was like, ohhhh what is this. So the fresh apricot they used indie was really nice with the banana taste, especially when its hot! But I ate too slow and I was full after 2/3 of the muffin.

duck yam rice

duck yam rice

This is my favouritest duck rice. The rice I like to order their yam rice. Its fragrant yet not sticky. If you order this, definitely ask for their chilli (even if you ain't a chilli lover) because their chilli is really just perfect match with the duck and the rice. I like to order toufu just for variety but their toufu is decent and has good smell. The soup is nice, I enjoy the soup as it has a herbal taste and doesn't feel very dry after drinking!
