Below average chai tea latte OK Dec 25, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Café

Orange thimble is a very quaint cafe with unique rooms of seatings. Together with 2 friends, we went to have coffee here as a lot of the cafés in tiong bahru estate were closed for Christmas. We ordered chai tea latte ($5.50), mocha ($4.50) and latte ($4.50). They have adopted the food sensor system which personally I find it very efficient as not only it prevent unnecessary queue from forming while waiting for the orders, it also allowed customers to look for a table while waiting for the orders to be ready.
However while my friends find the coffee very average, I find my chai tea latte below average as it was diluted.

Interesting mini canele  OK Dec 17, 2013

mini canele

mini canele

As i was exploring the newly opened shopping mall at Jurong East, something smelling very delicious drawn me to Johan Paris.

Johan Paris is actually a bakery from Japan and has made their first tribute in SIngapore at Westmall. As I was approaching the bakery, I also saw some mini canele baking in the oven. From what I understand from the staff, the mini croissant and the mini canele do contain a very small amount of alcohol in the ingredients used.

As i just had my dinner elsewhere, I have only bought some mini canele (100g for $3.50) to try. The mini canele was not too sweet and the crust was slightly chewy. On top of that, as it's rather bite size, you can just pop the whole canele into your mouth. In the middle, there is a custard like filling and it contains a tinge of rum in it.

Ordinary chicken wings OK Nov 30, 2013

This

Beside selling BBQ chicken wing, the stall also sell satay, otah and cockles. However i have only tried the chicken wings which are $1.30 each with a minimum order of at least 2 chicken wings. The stall was located at the back of Dunman food centre on level 2 but it was quite easily located as Dunman food centre is not a very big place.
The chicken wings were well marinated but were slightly on the dry side. For the price paid, I feel that there are other places with better bbq chicken wings.

Famous rojak at Dunman OK Nov 30, 2013

Categories : Singaporean | Chinese | Hawker Centre

This is one of the famous stalls in Dunman food centre. Located on the left hand side of level 2, it can be easily spotted once you walk up the stairs. Do note that the waiting time is about half an hour and the uncle will inform you before you order too.
The starting price started from $2 and there is an auntie who will be helping the uncle to toast the fried beancurb and you tiao.
i ordered my rojak ($2) with an century egg ($1) by the side. The rojak was slightly sweet and with heaps of grained peanuts on top. Overall, it was relatively good but to wait half an hour for it, I think I will nottry this again unless there is no queue. =)

Located inside Oasia hote, Zaffron is easily access via car or public transport. Beside having several carparks around, there is bus stops and mrt within walking distance.

The buffet spread here is not as much as many other places. However there is a station for chilled seafood and th seafood were quite fresh, a sashimi and sushi station, a satay station, a laksa station, a rojak station and also a dessert station. Overall the food here is quite ok but nothing very fantastic. I do recommend this place for business lunch or dinner as the restaurant is overall very quiet and I think it's quite good for business meeting
