As a big fan of Magnum's Design my magnum ice cream, I brought my mum for the magnum experience as well. Although previous I felt that service was mainly not there but the customized ice cream always brought me back. However today I experience something really different. The man opposite of me found the plastic wrapper for the naked magnum on his customised ice cream! Although mine has none of the wrapper but the ice cream melt very fast. Thus I feel that magnum should have more training for the staff.

Located at Liat tower, Wendy's can be easily access via public transport and there is also a big open carpark nearby for drivers.
I have heard a lot about how good Wendy's is in America but have not tried prior to it.
The fried chicken was rather dry looking but the meat was reasonably tender. The burger was rather big as compare to the "mini" burger from other fast food eateries. But I think it is a little bit messy to eat. The fries were the best as the fries were made from real potatoes.

I am sure many people has already tried the Vietnamese noodles from this eateries at one of its branches. However for me, my closest experience was just looking that long snake of queue while I walked pass the outlet at wheelock place and reading about it online. Thus I was rather happy when I passed by it on one late weekday afternoon whereby there is no queue at the Suntec city outlet.

Nam Nam Noodle Bar is actually a part of les amis group and the outlet at Suntec City is actually their newly opened 3rd outlet. Locating at the Suntec city, it can be easily access via the MRT (City Hall MRT station) , circle line (Promenade MRT Station), bus ( click on the map below and check via street directory) or even by car as there are 3100 parking lots available.

Over here at NamNam, there is no GST and service charge payable. Thus order is made at the cashier but the good things are food is served to you and you are brought to your table once your enter the eatery.
Something that I really like about this place is there are more than 3 type of seatings. For bigger group, you are opt for the high rectangular table seating while smaller group can opt for the high round table seating. There are also square table seating at the side and also the bar counter seating whereby you can look into the open concept kitchen and see how your food is being prepared.

Hot Black Coffee ($2.50) was served in small metal cup with some floral design which reminded me of my ah ma's cup is rather nostalgic. However the serving was quite small.
Pork belly banh mi

Pork belly banh mi

We ordered Banh Mi Grilled Chicken ($5.90) but we were served with Banh Mi Caramelised 5-spice Pork Belly with Pork Pate! Seriously I was disappointed by the blunder made. Obviously chicken and pork belly don't look alike! Anyway this is how the pork belly Banh Mi looks like if you are curious.

pho beef combination

Pho Beef Combination ($9.90) came shortly after the banh mi and we waited for less than 10 minutes. However for cutlery and such, it's all self service so do make your way to the cultery counter to get them before the food is served. The ingredients given was rather generous but the broth was more on the salty side and personally I find a lack in the authentic Vietnamese flavour.

Banh mi grilled chicken

Our grilled chicken banh mi arrived shortly after we asked for some order clarification from the service crew. Personally I like the taste and the idea of having chicken pate in the french loaf as it give the plain tasting bread a very flavorful finish.
southern roll

southern roll

I was rather disappointed with the Southern Roll ($4.90) as well. The translucent rice paper wrap was dry and on the hard side. On top of that, it was practically tasteless unless you eat it with the sauce given.

Overall I didn't enjoyed the food here. However in term of the deco, i think great effort has been put in. On top of that, for people who wants to wok up some Vietnamese cuisine at home, there are some condiments and such sold here.

Spending per head: Approximately $12(Lunch)

Great tea time promotion OK Nov 26, 2013

I was catching up with a friend in town and we have decided to go NYDC at wheelock as the place is rather quiet during the afternoon. On top of that, food at this outlet is relatively alright.
We ordered 2 tea set ($7.90 each) which consist of a choice of a cake and a hot coffee. Thus we had 1 boo boo cake , 1 pick me up and 2 cuppuccino. I would say that the set is really value for money. Personally I find that pick me up has too thick a layer of chocolate powder dusted on top thus making us "coughing" with the powder. However the boo boo cake was ok. Not too sweet and is very chocolatey.

After that, we also ordered an aioli fries ($5.80) to munch while we continue for our little catch up. The fries was rather ordinary but no complain about it. =)

Overall, it was a good tea session over at NYDC as the tea set is really value for money and the restaurant is relatively quiet and suitable for catching up session. However the service here can still be improved. =)

After hearing so much about this new kid on the block, I told myself that I MUST try cakes here! However not having to do my homework, I was met with the closed sign on one fine Sunday as they are closed on Sunday. Thus I went again on a weekday. The shop space was relatively small and adopted the minimalist renovation concept with less than 5 table seating.Personally the concept of placing cakes in a semi enclosed glass display did not sit well with me as it tend to leave dust and such onto the cakes if the place was not clean regularly.
I ordered a chocolate macaron ($2.80) and strawberry shortcake ($6.80) as I was rather full. In term of presentation, they scored as the cakes are really pleasant to the eyes. However I find the macaron too sweet. The strawberry cake is rather light and the sweetness is just right. There are other cakes showcased in the display which are really pretty.
Overall it is a very nice and quiet place to spend some time alone or good for dating. Plus point about this place is no GST or service charge. However I think I will not go back again unless I am around the area.
