Great tea time promotion OK Nov 26, 2013

Categories : American | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes | Pasta | Steaks and Grills | Burgers and Sandwiches

I was catching up with a friend in town and we have decided to go NYDC at wheelock as the place is rather quiet during the afternoon. On top of that, food at this outlet is relatively alright.
We ordered 2 tea set ($7.90 each) which consist of a choice of a cake and a hot coffee. Thus we had 1 boo boo cake , 1 pick me up and 2 cuppuccino. I would say that the set is really value for money. Personally I find that pick me up has too thick a layer of chocolate powder dusted on top thus making us "coughing" with the powder. However the boo boo cake was ok. Not too sweet and is very chocolatey.

After that, we also ordered an aioli fries ($5.80) to munch while we continue for our little catch up. The fries was rather ordinary but no complain about it. =)

Overall, it was a good tea session over at NYDC as the tea set is really value for money and the restaurant is relatively quiet and suitable for catching up session. However the service here can still be improved. =)

Great place for people watching Smile Nov 25, 2013

Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Pasta | Pizza

Located just diagonally in front of the escalator of Somerset MRT exit is this Italian restaurant. Thus it's very easily access via public transport as beside MRT, there are also bus stops within 5 mins walk. Beside that, there are also ample of parking lots within 313 somerset and the nearby vicinity.

The interior deco of the restaurant adopted alfresco concept. However as this is indoor thus you will no worries be it rain or shine. On top of that, as it's near to the exit toward the MRT, it made a very good place for people watching.
Linguine Vongole

Linguine Vongole

I ordered linguine vogole ($18.50) and it arrived relatively fast. However although the noodle was meant to be al dente, i find it a little bit too hard. Slightly softer texture would be perfect as the clams serving was generous and the overall taste is rather delicious.
Long black coffee

Long black coffee

Long black( $5.20) is using illy coffee thus the quality of the coffee is being assured here.

What's life without dessert right? I ordered tiramisu ($7.50) which come in a ramekin. It was dusted with some chocolate powder and topped with some berry compote. Overall it tasted good as it is creamy but not too rich and best of all it wasn't too sweet.

Overall I like the food here and the ambiance here is rather inviting for me. However service here is almost non existence although 10% service charge is payable beside GST. So if you don't mind almost no service and crave for some Italian food, food here is quite decent and affordable.

Better than KFC Smile Nov 25, 2013

Located at 313 Somerset is this spacious bright orange theme eatery that sell fried chicken. Over here is self service however the service crew here are all relatively friendly.

Beside that there are also ample of seatings. Best of all, there are baby chairs provided over here. Thus this is definitely a child friendly place that you can bring your family along to enjoy a hearty meal.

I oredered 6 piece pepper nuggets combo ($5.90), which comes with a side, a biscuits and a drink and 3 piece chicken tenders ($3.90).

Something that is rather special as compare to the other fried chicken is the biscuit. It's lightly salted with a texture which is soft and between the texture of bread and cake rather than biscuit. Personally I like this a lot. On top of that, the chicken tender here is juicy and tender, highly recommended for people who prefer not to dirty their hands.

The nuggets here are slightly more unique as compare to many other places. Beside the fact that you can taste REAL chicken meat, the chicken nugget is also mildly spicy.

Overall I think popeyes has great quality of fried chicken. Although it's a fast food and is fried, the chickens aren't heavy laden with oil. Beside that service here is relatively good. Thus if you are around the area do come and try their fried chicken.

Quick dinner before movie Smile Nov 25, 2013

I have visited Soup spoon for a quick dinner before movie as it was just stone throw away from Golden Village at Vivo City.
Personally I like the concept here as it's spacious and bright. On top of that, with the high ceiling and orange lighting it gives people a very comfortable and at ease feeling.

I ordered a regular Velvety Mushroom Stroganoff set($14.10) which comes with a ice tea, bread roll and also a Chilled Vietnamese Summer Rice Roll. I have also order

The bread roll here is soft and warm while vietnamese roll is rather appetizing.

Personally i find that the soup here is very filling. On top of that, they are thick and creamy with mushroom bites. Definitely better than a lot of places who are using campbell sorta soup. Nothing wrong with campbell soup but that will only be my option if I am lazy to cook and got nothing else to eat at home.

Overall it was a quick pleasant dinning experience here as the staff here are relatively friendly and just as warm as the colour of the deco. I recommend Soup spoon for anybody who is rushing for a movie and looking for a quick meal.

Located at Vivo city, the pop up store is definitely very easily access via public transport as there is a bus interchange across the road and Vivo itself is located at Harbourfront MRT station. On top of that, there are also ample of parking for those who drive.

For Magnum lovers, this must be a heaven as you can order Design my Magnum (self customised magnum) ($7). Firstly you will be asked to choose 3 toppings out of the choice of 18 toppings available. Some of the toppings are really interesting! I saw chilli flakes, wolfberries, sea salt and also dried mixed flowers. The chosen toppings are them put into a mini shakers to mix well.

Then there is a choice of 3 coatings (white chocolate, dark chocolate & milk chocolate) to choose from. After coating the naked magnum, the 3 chosen toppings are then sprinkled onto the coated magnum. After that, you get to choose the chocolate to be drizzled on the coated magnum.

these are the customised magnum that my nephew & niece have made. The one in the front is white chocolate sprinkled with gold flakes (waffles), chocolate crunchies and coffee dusting then drizzled with milk chocolate. While the one behind is dark chocolate coating with dried cranberries, golden nuggets (chocolate bits) and macadamia chips, finished off with white chocolate drizzle.
Actually this is my third visit to the same store. However it was also the happiest one. I guess the happiness came from the excitement from the kiddos while we were customising the magnum and also I must say that the service of the service crews have improved quite a lot as compare to my prior experiences with them. I highly recommend this place to anybody who like magnum and also to parents who would want to let their kiddos indulge in a bit of the self customising fun.

Actually beside the customerised magnum, there are also other items on the menu such as food such as spaghetti, drinks and also desserts. One of them which I would want to try before the pop up store at vivo is closed would be the fondue for 2 ($25). IMO this is rather value for money from what I can see from the picture. But I think I better go fast before November ends as they have not announced where the next pop up store will be yet!
