The mee was quite moist and to the extent of looking rather soggy. The first few mouthful of the Hokkien mee made the four gluttons completely expressionless, as something seems to be missing from the Hokkien mee by this renowned stall. First of all, we can’t taste the much needed sweetness and flavour from the seafood stock in the mee, the plate of mee tasted like a bowl of plain rice. The plate of mee just lacks the emulsification that the crustacean stock and the seasoning lend to the mee. It was just too plain in the taste; lacking of the Hokkien mee’s aroma. There was also the lack of the wok charred (Wok Hei) smell as well.

Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream and Coffee Creamier Handcrafted Ice Cream and Coffee sure knows how to make their ice cream rich, smooth and a delight to eat! This is an absolutely lovely place to just sit back and chill on a busy day. That said, tables are a little small, and seats aren’t very comfy. (Oh and it is slightly pricey though) However, if you aren’t very particular about that, do come down to this place and give their ice cream a shot. They’ve got real soothing music playing on the stereo too! Also, if you're ordering the waffles, be sure to order THIS flavour to go with it! Want to know what flavour it is?

We love the fishballs! OK Nov 01, 2013

The bowl of fish balls soup came with five large fish balls, the fish balls were larger than the ordinary fish balls that you will find from most of the fish ball noodle stalls. The fish balls were hand made by the owner, the texture was not as bouncy as other good fish balls but you can truly taste the generous fish meat within each fish ball, definitely not the overly starchy filled fish balls commonly found in the market. The soup was tasteful with the tinge of sweetness.

We found the noodles slightly overcooked and thought the soup was a bit bland. However, the fried fish was nicely fried and created a beautiful crispy outer coating. The crispiness of the coating was done in a perfect manner, not too hard or too thick and nicely sheathed the fish meat internally. The fish meats were very fresh, together with the palatable coating, the combination in fact created the wonder of this Lor mee. This was the triumph of the stall and we finally discovered the reason of the queue: It was the fried fish that has the myriad of flavours that entice everyone.

Hill Street Coffee Shop At the very end of the day, we are not very sure as to whether Hill Street Coffee Shop is the best representation of the local delights that we have here on this tiny red dot. We do understand though, that since it’s located at a tourist attraction, the food tends to be less spicy to cater to the tourists. If you’re one that isn’t a big fan of spicy food and want to finally give some originally spicy local delights a try, this is the place to head to! After dinner, you can easily go have a walk around the absolutely beautiful Gardens by the Bay to burn some calories! As for the local foodies, think it’s best we stick to our no air-con, rowdy and sweaty coffee shops. Cheap and good! By the way, the food here can easily cost you a whopping $7 to $10 bucks for a simple local dish, as mentioned; this is a tourist attraction so you got to be prepared to pay a premium.

Extremely tender chicken, definitely a must try!

Very rich, but for those spicy food lovers, you might want to add a few spoonfuls of chilli in here!
