Went there for a weekend dinner, was relatively easy to find a place. I ordered the Linguine Pesto with Chicken. The food didn't look that appetizing, but it smelt really good. There was a generous amount of chicken and tomatoes. It was not too bad, quite yummy but I felt there was a little too much pesto sauce added. However, it wasn't too oily. Overall not fantastic but not bad. I had the ice chocolate, which I didn't really like. The drink doesn't have the chocolatey taste, some chocolate sauce was added to give it the artificial taste. Not the place for chocolate drinks. The coffee was good though, especially the coffee art. It's aromatic too, and tastes good. Good chill out place for those staying in the east too! lol

Western food at Astons OK Oct 27, 2013

Categories : Steaks and Grills

Astons sells one of the cheaper and value for money western food. I had the chargrilled chicken with baked potato and garden veggie. The chargrilled chicken was cooked well, it smelled very good and tasted very delicious. It was tender and juicy and the cook didn't overcook it. The sauce on the chicken complements it very well, made it even yummier. I felt the baked potato was not awesome though. Although the butter which gave it a good smell, there was too much of it which made it a little oily and buttery. The garden veggie was okay too, it wasn't boiled for too long hence the carrots were still raw and hard. Good for those who prefer more natural veggies. Would choose other side dishes the next time!

Kopitiam by day, bar by night OK Oct 27, 2013

I ate here in the day when it was a kopitiam, and had the famous yong tau foo and vegetarian beehoon. The yong tau foo was not bad but the tau kee was a tad bit salty. The vegetarian beehoon was nice and tasty. However, the vegetarian sides contrary to popular sentiments, I found was overly fried and very oily. The zai er was not bad but the beancurd skin with mushrooms inside was overly starchy.

Shiok Maki OK Oct 07, 2013

Shiok Maki

Shiok Maki

The Shiok Maki at Koh's Grill and Sushi Bar is rather interesting It comes with prawns or unagi, and avocado, cucumber, and topped with flying fish roe and melted cheese. Instead of the usual seaweed, it is wrapped with grilled salmon. The combination is pretty good but definitely not fantastic of worth paying $16.80 for. I would certainly say that this signature dish is overrated.

I also had the beef sukiyaki. It was not too bad, only that the soup was a little too sweet for my liking. Also, they threw all meat in before serving, so my meet was either over cooked, or cold as I had to take it out quickly before it got overcooked, instead of cooking it as I ate. I would say I have tasted better.

Heard about the crepes at this restaurant and headed there to try. Ordered a mushroom and cheese crepe and a broccoli cheese soup. The soup tastes a little peppery, but quite yummy. The crepe came in a hand-held cone like container, unlike the normal crepes served on plates. Was quite a disappointment as it was quite hard, I prefer it to be softer. The mushroom and cheese went well together though. My friend had the ham, cheese and egg crepe. It was a sunny side up egg instead of the normal scrambled egg. The ingredients taste good together, very tasty. Could have been better if the crepe was a little softer.
