Jap food at Itacho Smile Oct 07, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Sushi/Sashimi

Itacho is one of my favourite place for Japanese food. We had salmon sashimi, it was very fresh and juicy, and reasonably priced. There's this sushi which sells at $0.40 per piece, it's very tasty, and is a must order. However, each person can only order two of that. I like the fried gyoza paired with sea salt, it has an interesting but awesome taste. The grilled pork handroll is not bad too, there's quite alot of meat in it. My friend had the egg with spicy salmon, I think it's quite average though. We also had the mini eel bowl, it smells very fragrant and is very delicious. However there's only a few pieces. Food here is awesome!

Thai food at Ah Loy Thai Smile Oct 07, 2013

I like the food at the Shaw Tower's outlet and decided to give this a try. Ordered the white basil chicken, it was awesome! Very fragrant and tasty, the bamboo shoots were very crunchy too. Had the french beans with minced meat, the dish was fried just right. The tom yum soup was not bad either, very spicy and there's a generous spread of ingredients in it. Tried the red ruby for dessert, one of the better ones I've eaten in Singapore. Could have been better if the chestnuts were crunchier. Definitely had a good meal! mad

best liu sha bao  Smile Oct 07, 2013

Liu Sha Bao & Bo Luo Bao

Liu Sha Bao & Bo Luo Bao

The Scholar has the best Liu Sha Bao (Salted egg yolk) in town. With four baos per portion, the salted egg yolk is molten and slightly runny when you bite in into the soft and fragrant bao. It has a slightly more savory touch to it as compared to must other liu sha baos. I would rate it the best!

The Bo Luo Bao there is not bad too. The crust is slightly sweet and crispy from the baking and sugar coating, and the char siew filling on the inside is savory, creating a perfect blend of sweet and salty.

We also had the Sambal Four Vegetable. It was also very yummy especially for someone like me who loves spice.

Yummy Tau Huay Smile Oct 07, 2013

Lao Ban Tau Huay Original

Lao Ban Tau Huay Original

The LaoBan Tau Huay is not like the conventional tau huay. It is more of a pudding. Lao Ban's tauhuay is very delicious, It is so smooth and silky, coupled with a slight milky and caramel-ish essence, it almost melts in your mouth. My favourite is the original flavor, but it also comes in almond flavour. They also have soy milk which tastes slightly different from the old-school soy milk but equally fantastic. It is totally worth the wait even if you have to queue for it.

Recommended Dish(es):  Original Flavoured tau huay

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Other)

Italian BMT

Italian BMT

The Italian B.M.T. sub at Subway is just amazing. The soft and yet chewy Parmesan bread is very fragrant, and the generous serving of ham and pepperonis make the sub exceptionally savory. Coupled with the crunch from the sauce and vegetables of your choice, like tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers, green peppers, jalapenos, etc, the sub is not just a tasty but a healthy meal. The chicken breast sub at Subway is also awesome.
