Thai food at Porn's Smile Oct 14, 2013

Passed by Porn's and decided to give it a try. I ordered the lunch set, comprising of stir-fried chicken with garlic and rice, and a drink. The food smells very good, especially with the company of garlic. The chicken is very soft and tender, and it tastes very yummy! The sauce is very tasteful, not too salty, and it goes very well with the chicken and rice. My friend had the deep fried chicken, it is crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. Tastes very good too! We shared a kangkong, the kangkong smells very good but tastes ordinary though. Had a good lunch! lol

I love the Zi Char at Joo Hing. My favourite dishes are the Prawn Paste Chicken, and the Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves. I am not a fan of friend food but the prawn paste chicken is a 'must have' every time I go. The chicken is served crispy, and fragrant from the prawn paste. It tastes fantastic when dipped in the sambal belachan. The Sambal Sweet Potato Leaves are also a 'must have'. The sambal makes the dish tasty and fragrant and the sweeet potato leaves are cooked to perfection where the stems are still crunchy and juicy. The steamed fish and spinach are also not bad.

cheap and good tosai and prata Smile Oct 11, 2013

Tosai

Tosai

Open 24 hours, Jamal Restaurant, serves freshly prepared prata, tosai, and other dishes at a very affordable price. The prata there is fluffy and yet not oily. The curry is light but may lean on the side of being mildly diluted. My favourite is the tosai. Freshly-made when ordered, it is slightly crispy on the exterior and soft and the inside. The combination of the dhal and the tosai is just fantastic. I would recommend this place for cheap and good prata. We ordered 2 plain pratas, 1 tosai, 2 vegetables and a teh tarik for only $4.50! How good is that!!!

Recommended Dish(es):  Tosai

Spending per head: Approximately $2(Supper)

The food at Yum Cha is a very good representation of good dim sum. The carrot cake was tasty and yet not too oily. The Cheong Fen had a generous portion of fillings (shrimp/ meat) , and the rolled rice was smooth and not too thick. Also, the soy sauce was not too sweet! The custard bun was pretty good too. Served right out of the steamer, the bun was hot and fluffy. The siumai were very delicious too.

best mochi buns Smile Oct 11, 2013

Mochi Cheese

Mochi Cheese

This is the first time I have ever tried mochi in the form of bread. The exterior of the cheese mochi is like the exterior of bun, mildly crisp and soft at the same time, and the inside is stuffed with glutinous rice and melted cheese giving it a chewy bite like the traditional mochis! The cheese mochi is extremely fragrant. They mochi buns also com in chocolate, sesame, soy and matcha flavour. The sesame mochi taste quite like the cheese mochi, only that the sesame seeds gives the mochi bun an additional crunch!
