When I stepped into this little bakery shop, I was overwhelmed by the cozy environment. A sofa was placed against a corner of the room and beside it is a clear glass cabinet that displays those pretty cupcakes that are available that day.

They currently offers 21 flavors, however only selected flavors are available at any given day. After spending a while looking through the flavors available, I settled on a box of 6 cupcakes! They all look so irresistible. The flavors I got were “Melodramatic Mint”, “Jazzy Jaffa”, “Saucy Salted Caramel”, “Rockin Red Velvet” and “Bouncy Butterscotch”.
Surprisingly, their premium flavor, Rockin Red Velvet cake base was rather dry. Conversely, another premium flavor, Saucy Salted Caramel was fantastic! The soft and fluffy cake base with salted caramel sauce get my taste bud tingling. smile

Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee

Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee

Ah Heng Curry Chicken was introduced to me by a colleague. As usual, there was a queue of lunch crowd waiting to get a bowl from this famous stall. The Curry Chicken Bee Hoon Mee served in 3 sizes. I usually order the smallest bowl unless I am very hungry. The bowl was submerged with generous amount of chicken meat, potato, fishcake and tau pok. The sliced tau pok completely absorbed the aromatic curry. If you think that the curry is not spicy enough, you can add more dry chilli paste into the curry. The dry chilli paste enhances the entire bowl of curry! tongue

Saw posters of Ashtons Specialties opening a new outlet at the newly renovated Safra Toa Payoh. Some friends recommended it for casual dining, hence decided to go there for dinner. Once I laid steps into the restaurant, it has got a very earthy or woody feel and it is very roomy. We ordered a black pepper chicken, prime sirloin and some drinks. Each main dish comes with 2 sides of your choice. There is a list of hot and cold sides for you to choose. The chicken well marinated and moist inside and chargrilled on the outside. The prime sirloin is cooked just right and not tough. lol

Nothing is more comforting than a bowl of Blanco Fish Soup on a wet and cold day. The broth is very sweet and tasty and the fish is very fresh and succulent! For $4.50, I would say that they are very generous in the amount of sliced fish or fried fish or double fish (mixture of sliced and fried fish – additional $0.50).

The queue is very long during lunch hours, at times we queued up to 30mins just to place our orders and left with less than 30mins to enjoy our food and head back to office. But it is absolutely worth it! lol

DA-BOOM sambal chilli! Smile Oct 04, 2013

There are a few Nasi Lemak stall in Adam Road Food Centre, but Selara Rasa’s queue is always the LONGEST. When the queue is long, it can take about half an hour before you can have your breakfast or lunch. My opinion is that both the rice and the sambal chilli are the main factors that would contribute to a good Nasi Lemak. The rice is cooked just right with light coconut fragrant and texture is not dry or too moist. The sambal chilli is DA-BOOM! It is spicy and little sweet and it taste great when eaten the rice.
