Dim Sum Night! Smile Nov 09, 2013   (Related Review)

So my girlfriends and I decide to drive out for supper on a Friday night & Swee Choon was the first thing that came to our minds. We reached there around 1am and there were no more tables in the aircon area so we opted for the outside. Good food are worth the little sacrifice!

First thing to order is always the Shanghai Xiao Long Bao -4pc ($3.50), we will never say no to these. Tasty succulent meat that are goodly packed in the little firm but thin soup dumplings.

And then there's the Sichuan Chili Oil Wanton -4pc ($3.50) which is not too spicy but still delivers the right amount of flavours, a must try too.

The thing about Swee Choon is that the menu, however you look at it, it just never gets dull! There's always things that you can never get tired of and have to come back no matter how many times you've tried. The Salted Egg Yolk Custard Bun -3pc ($3.60) is what I highly rave about to people. I won't comment, but do judge by the golden filling!

We've also ordered a lot of other things that sums up our bill to around $68, for pax of 4 it was really cheap. It was up to the point where we were too full and couldn't finish. Definitely one of the the most affordable dim sum places in Singapore!

A wonderful place that I wish would remain for many years to come. Would definitely be nostalgic to return with old friends or family for any form of gathering!

Korean Food in School! Smile Nov 08, 2013

This stall at Koufu sells some pretty decent Korean cuisine. The service is also pretty efficient which results in the relatively short queue.

Have ordered the Korean Mixed Rice ($2.50) which is super cheap and affordable. The dish comes with chicken, cucumber and carrots topped with a beautiful fried egg, some kimchi and Korean sauce. Definitely worth it.

Decent Japanese Meal Smile Nov 07, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Food Court

This little food stall situates at the basement of The Central at Clarke Quay selling really affordable simple Japanese food mostly below $6.

I've gotten the Chicken Curry Don ($5.50) which I wasn't expecting much initially but was rather glad at its simplicity but nice flavoured curry which was served warm. The portions of chicken, potatoes and carrots were generous as well and cooked nicely to the tendered form. The rice was also nicely cooked and tasted soft to my liking.

Overall it was a decent Japanese meal at really affordable price considering it's location.

Bliss in the Neighbourhood Smile Nov 07, 2013

How often are you able to find a nice restaurant at a neighbourhood community centre? This one's situated conveniently right next to Ang Mo Kio station, adopting a really lovely alfresco dining concept. My first visit there was on a Friday night for late night supper.

My friend got the Plain Jane with Salted Caramel    Sauce ($4.90) which was served warm with nice sauce but the waffle wasn't that great after awhile.

I've gotten myself a Plain Jane with Chocolate Sauce ($4.90) and this was slightly better than what my friend had because it was crispier and the chocolate sauce was not too sweet.

After the waffles we decide to get ourselves some nice Margaritas. I've got the Green Apple Margarita ($9.90) but there wasn't much green apple taste in it as I've expected, tad disappointed but maybe it was just a wrong choice.

My friend, however, got an awesome Lychee Margarita ($9.90) and it's really nice with fresh lychee flavoring. Should have gotten this together with him.

This restaurant also offers a good extensive range of alcoholic menu which can be viewed on its website. The restaurant opens from 3pm - 12am from Monday to Thursday and 3pm - 1am from Friday to Sunday. I would return back again for their savoury food soon.

Lao Ban! Smile Nov 07, 2013

Lao Ban Soya Beancurd has saved my life while I was on a soft diet after my wisdom teeth surgery. So I've gotten 5 days worth of supplies which I had for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was so easy to swallow for me who wasn't able to fully open my mouth.

I switched between the Almond ($2) and Original ($1.50) from time to time and having it for 5 days straight didn't even make me sick of it! It also helps to open up my appetite along the way. Hard to believe but the taste was really exceptional thus it's true. I'm glad the outlet locations now are so convenient now because it has already became an addiction.
