Mos Chicken! Smile Nov 15, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Fast Food | Ice Cream and Gelato | Burgers and Sandwiches

Don't you have one of those days when you simply just crave for something so badly you don't even want anything else despite being quite hungry?

So just the other day I was craving for fried chicken the other day, and there's many kinds of fried chicken in the market, from Taiwan, Korean, Japanese to Western styles. So I happened to pass by Mos Burger and immediately ordered their Mos Chicken ($2.70), which was amazing. They always serve it piping hot and fresh and I like how they deboned it to your convenience. Always a good comfort good, especially on rainy days.

I'm kind of craving for it now too! Mmm ~

Krispy Doughnuts! Smile Nov 14, 2013
Categories : American | Bakery

After collecting my Hungry Games' prizes from OpenRice, I knew for sure my next stop must definitely be Krispy Kreme Doughnuts!

It was a weekday at a time before lunch hours so the queue was relatively short, yet the queue was continuously growing every few minutes which shows the high demand.

Was given this pamphlet menu the moment I joined the queue and .. I kind of wanted everything here.

It's always good to see fresh doughnuts being refilled and ready to serve, fresh from the oven!

I decided to go with a box of four Original Glazed ($2.60 each) to have it with my friends. Each doughnut was true to its name of 'Krispy' on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside! It was also glazed perfectly, it was sweet but not overpowering. Great for desserts or on-the-go snack and really does a good job filling you up.

The wide selection are always so tempting, I would totally return to try out more of their assorted flavours! Especially red velvet and chocolate, almond all over and glazed chocolate cake.

Lenas by Ministry of Food is one of those restaurants that offers a variety fusion food. Their massive menu selection comprises mostly of Japanese-Western fusion showing delicious looking modern and classic dishes like pizzas, pastas and mains to lovely appetizers like bruschetta. The ambience also portrayed a comfortable warm setting that really matches the theme of fusion-dining.

My friend and I shared the Tomato Bruschetta, this Italian appetizer was a wonderful start to our appetite as the flavours of fresh tomatoes on crisp-soft bread tasted so amazing! A definite must-order for appetizers.

We also shared the Buffalo Wings which was served piping hot, it came with some interesting sweet chilli sauce but the wings were so flavourful on their own that I didn't find a need to dip. It was fried to perfection and wasn't greasy as well.

For my main, I decided to go with the Pesto Chicken Pasta. The pesto sauce was the perfect blend of crush garlic and basil among other ingredients and it was very delicious! A healthy and light comfort food indeed!

My friend went with the Hamburger Omelette Rice. The omelette was more soft and fluffy than you see it on picture! It's really good and goes especially well with the thick Japanese curry. I didn't try the beef but my friend said she might consider ordering it again, so it must be good!

Overall, my dining experience here at Lenas was more than satisfying. The service may not be exceptional but they served all the basic needs we requested. The food will always be the reason for returning!

Slice Your Icecream! Smile Dec 11, 2013

Categories : Middle Eastern/Mediterranean | Café | Ice Cream and Gelato

After having lunch at another place in Jem, we were craving for desserts and my buddy & I went straight to Mado! It was the one place that I've always wanted to try one month before Jem opened. I'm sure many around me have heard me raving about this place again & again.

We got the Sliced Icecream - Original & Pistachio ($11.50) to share! Normal ice creams you find out there are totally made from cow's milk, gelatin and other artificial flavours. These sliced maras cut are natural organic stuff from goat's milk and Salep, a type of Turkish flour. The ice cream itself not only tasted flavour-rich and of high quality, the consistency is also perfected so that it doesn't melt easily. Recommended way of eating? With your knife & fork, it's slice-able! I was upset with the hole in my pockets but nevertheless, I still love this plate so much I'm rating it 5/5. It's worth it!

This cafe also serves halal Turkish food, pastries, ice cream & fine beverages. Unfortunately, we only had enough space for desserts and also there for one thing - the ice cream. So I can't give reviews about the other stuff. By the way, it's not easy to find Turkish ice cream in Singapore anymore, the fun tricky one at Far East Plaza already closed down long ago. So this place would probably be the place I'd go the next time I crave for chewy ice cream.

Jam in the City of Angels!  Smile Dec 07, 2013
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Thai | Restaurant | Steaks and Grills | Kids-Friendly

Bangkok Jam has always been my favourite restaurant to go for simple lunch. The casual modern bistro-styled restaurant incorporates Western spices with traditional Thai spices, herbs and cooking methods. The contemporary Thai-cuisine served are unique yet comforting to our hearts.

The Yellow Curry Chicken ($12.90) is something that I will always order whenever I'm here! If I want to try other dishes, I would recommended my partner to get this so that I can have a few mouthful of joy at least! Served with steamed Jasmine rice, the yellow curry contains some good blend of spices that are not spicy and the sweetness is not overpowering either. The chicken, carrots and potatoes are also cooked through with nice absorption of the curry and you may crave for more even after finishing one portion! It's really good.

My buddy ordered their Massaman Curry Chicken ($11.90) which is served the same concept as the yellow curry chicken. This Muslim origin Thai curry contains chicken, potatoes and nuts. It's non-spicy and taste more savoury than the sweet yellow curry. Not a bad try!

Although there were only two of us, we pretty much have big appetite to order another main dish. Decided to go with something lighter, the Papaya Phad Thai ($12.90) has brought freshness to the classic dish by replacing the rice noodle. A beautiful dish that is healthy as it's carb-free.

The Red Ruby with Coconut Icecream ($7.50) is a sin that my buddy would always order regardless of mood, weather, price or anything other factors! The refreshing coconut icecream along with the crunchy red ruby have the distinctive taste that makes him return again and again. So if you're a fan of asian desserts like him, this is it!

Overall, this will always be a place that I'll return. Service is not exceptional and can be improved but food wise, it offers some of the most comforting asian food I can find easily at affordable prices.
