Eat at Taipei! Smile Nov 16, 2013
Categories : Taiwanese

Although I've never been to Taiwan before, I always have a thing for Taiwan food, especially their local street snacks! Eat at Taipei is able to settle my cravings issues! The restaurant is located right next to the ice-skating rink at JCube and it's a lovely place to chill with some friends and relax.

I've been looking out for places that sell coffin toast in Singapore and this is the main reason why I've visited this place! So I've gotten the Tainan Coffin Toast ($9.90) which is their signature dish. The bread is first cut and hollowed then fried, then filled with really savoury fillings of seafood chowder alike. The consistency of the filling was creamy and yummy but it could be improved with more flavours. The bread was perfect and not too oily for my liking. The Milk Tea ($3.50) was awesome! The pearls are really chewy and the blend was of a good ratio.

My buddy who went along with me ordered the Oyster Omelette ($8.50), which is quite expensive compared to what we can get at local hawker stalls or food courts. Because of the price, we were expecting something more but it turned out a disappointment. It tasted fishy and very corn-starchy and also a little way too greasy. Definitely not something I'd recommend.

Brushing disappointments aside, I went ahead and placed a dessert order. I've gotten the Passion Fruit Shaved Ice ($7.90). I've had many shaved ice desserts around the country and never had anything like this for a long while! The shaved ice was smoothly presented with colorful cheerful syrups and passion fruits mixed. The caviar-like pearls that came with it really gave some good exciting burst of flavours. A must try! I would even pay a few more dollars for this.

The restaurant also offers other variety of popular Taiwanese snack offerings including bentos and soups and more. They have a really nice website too. Overall, I would definitely return again to try out more!

McDonald's for Student! Smile Nov 15, 2013

The McDonald's in schools are always cheaper than outside because of the student privileged prices.

The really popular Breakfast Deluxe ($5.85) is one of my favorites. I'm not a fan of pancakes in general but eating sweet and savory together makes pretty good combination. I also like my perfectly scrambled eggs peppery, as you can see with the amount of pepper.

Green Curry in School! Smile Nov 12, 2013

Categories : Vietnamese | Food Court

So there's this particular stall at Nanyang Polytechnic's Koufu selling pretty decent Thailand and Vietnamese cuisine.

Decided to try the really affordable Green Curry ($3.50). I was initially kind of disappointed at the consistency as it was more of a soupy consistency than a thicker finish. However, I was really glad of the generous amount of chicken and eggplant that is hidden inside this bowl of green. The spicyness level is just right but overall consistency could be improved. Nevertheless, for that price paid, it was considered reasonable. I do hope they add in Yellow Curry to their menu in the future.

Hidden Gem @ Bukit Batok! Smile Nov 10, 2013

Categories : Malay | Coffeeshop | Halal

This halal coffee shop selling Indian and Thai Muslim food was introduced to me by my Indian food buddy as he works around Bukit Batok area. If I were to pass by the shop, I wouldn't have known that we can actually go upstairs to the 2nd level. It's a lovely hidden gem place with good air conditioning.

The menu is pretty extensive considering it's a little coffee shop stall. I love how it's a picture menu as it's easy to help me to decide what to order.

Since I've been craving for some good basmati rice recently, I've gotten myself the Chicken Nasi Biryani ($6). The biryani is nicely spiced and compliments well with the delicious curry gravy, which wasn't too spicy which is great. The chicken was also nicely marinated and cooked to tender wellness. Love the egg that comes with it too.

I also got myself the Iced Milo Godzilla ($3.50) and this was awesome, it comes with 2 generous scoop of vanilla icecream with the consistency of milo is just right too.

For a small coffeeshop stall, you may think the price is a little on the higher side, but don't forget about the portion, service and aircon they're offering! We get to order our food the restaurant style as the staff comes up to the 2nd level to take our orders and serve us our food. Would definitely return to try out their pratas next time round!

Missing Order Cry Nov 07, 2013

Categories : Pasta | Halal

I wasn't feeling that well one night and decided to just order Pizza Hut delivery. The online order site was user-friendly and they're offering the usual hot deals. I've gotten the Variety Meal Box A ($19.90) which I've chosen a personal pan Haiwaiian Pizza and a Chicken Supreme which came alongside with 4pc Honey Roasted Wings, 5pc Mini Hash Browns and 6pc Chicken Karaage. Really worth the money!

On the website, they also promoted the Pasta Perfectto as an add-on and I've also gotten that, a Chicken Pomodoro ($5) which I was looking forward to. However, the delivery guy came promptly in 30minutes but didn't pass that to me. It was too late the time I tried to go downstairs to find him. I resorted to calling the hotline for help & the operator told me she'd dispatch the driver immediately, but the "immediate" took almost 50minutes, although the pasta did arrive warm, the lateness was kind of disappointing. Would take me awhile to patronize Pizza Hut again.
