Ah Tai Hainanese Chicken Rice at Maxwell Food centre. Ah Tai was the former master chef of the famous Tian Tian Chicken rice for 20years.
I prefer Ah Tai Chicken RICE to Tian Tian. Ah Tai rice not too oily and of the right texture. However, Tian Tian one too moist and soft.
Tian Tian chicken is smoother than Ah Tai chicken. But Ah Tai chicken is already consider quite smooth la.
As for the sauce, both Tian Tian & Ah Tai taste light... but I prefer Ah Tai as Tian Tian one is too bland and sticky.
Overall, this two chicken rice is definitely one of the best in Singapore.
Ah Tai chicken rice for tonight dinner. Half chicken, 5 packet of rice S $14.50 for 4 of us.

Their food is freshly made. Eg their chee cheong fun.. with prawn, chasiew, mushroom, abalone choice as filling. They made the chee cheong fun on the spot when we order. I like the prawn chee cheong fun.. the skin is thin and very smooth. They is cabbage in it.. usualky I will ask them nt to put it . As for the cha siew too little and is quite hard. Prefer their prawn chee cheong fun. They also sekl fried rice, congee etc..

I tried their seafood congee, quite bland but generous ingredients and smooth texture

Cheap & not bad dim sum Smile Feb 21, 2014

My first time at swee choon, the price is quite cheap. We are given a seat in the air con area. Don't like the fried mee sua, as it is very oily and filling.

The har gao is not bad with whole prawn but skin can be thinner. The chee cheong fun is a bit too salty. The custurd bun is not flowing but it taste good. My favorite is the yang chun noodles eith oil and onion. The sauce is great, I love it so much! Simple yet very nice.

Recommended Dish(es):  Har gao

This has always been my favourite snack, even though the price seems to have increased over the yr. As compare to the other octopus ball, I think they have the best out of all that I tried. The ingredients is very generous, and the skin is crispy yet the inside is so soft and tasty. I would always ask them to get me the HOT and Fresh one! I don't really like the sauce as I find it too salty, hence I only for mayonnaise.... YUMMY!

Old chang kee  Smile Jan 26, 2014

Old chang kee curry puff is my all time favourite. It is always HOT and Fresh when I eat it... Even though the price $1.40 might seems abit expensive for a curry puff, but the quality and ingredients( curry, potato and some shredded chicken) is definitely worth this price! I always have it as my snack!

As for old chang kee breakfast. Their congee with you tiao is less than $2... the congee taste not bad and the you tiao is fresh and hot and very crispy!

As for the glutinous rice only have some peanuts etc... taste normal, and only cost $1.20....

Recommended Dish(es):  Congee, Glutinous Rice
