Claypot Crab Beehoon OK Nov 17, 2014

Claypot Crab Beehoon

Claypot Crab Beehoon

I had been craving for crab beehoon for quite a while, so we purposely travelled here and ordered their crab beehoon. It was not bad but I still prefer the crab beehoon from Melben Ang Mo Kio.

Crispy Homemade Tofu

Crispy Homemade Tofu

We also ordered their Crispy Homemade Tofu, expecting a crispy exterior and a soft silky inferior. However, it didn't really taste like tofu and tasted more like fish cake. I was really really disappointed with this dish.

Think I'll probably go back to Melben the next time I get a crab beehoon craving.

Pepper Pig Stomach Ginko Soup

Pepper Pig Stomach Ginko Soup

This is the perfect soup for cold rainy days! There was alot of pig stomach slices and a fair bit of ginko in the soup. I also found some barley & tofu skin at the bottom of the bowl. It was all very yummy but the star of the show was definitely the soup! It was flavoury and peppery, perfect for warming yourself up on a cold day. Best thing is your get a free one time soup refill, how awesome is that!

Hokubee Ribeye Don OK Nov 17, 2014

Hokubee Ribeye Don

Hokubee Ribeye Don

I got myself the Hokubee Ribeye Don and added their 63 degree egg for $2. The egg was a huge disappointment - the yolk wasn't runny and the egg white looked slightly greyish in colour.

There was a generous amount of beef in the bowl and the beef itself was not bad. There was quite a bit of fats but it didn't taste oily at all. Furikake was added to the rice and while it was nice, I felt like it took the attention away from the beef. I wouldn't mind coming back to try the other dishes.

Rice with sliced potato, eggplant & japchae

Rice with sliced potato, eggplant & japchae

I always eat from this shall whenever I'm at Shaw's Food Republic. This time I got the plain rice with stir-fried potato, eggplant, japchae and seaweed. I forgot to stir my rice this time and it ended up a bit burnt because it's served in a hot stone bowl. The rice portion seem significantly lesser then the first two times I was there. I really liked the japchae, whereas the other dishes were ok but nothing to shout about.

Taj Mahal Wrap Smile Nov 17, 2014

Taj Mahal Wrap

Taj Mahal Wrap

The Taj Mahal wrap consisted of tandoori chicken, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber and red onions in a mint yoghurt dressing. I chose the spinach wrap and I really liked this combination because you can clearly taste the flavourful tandoori chicken paired with the healthy crunch of the various vegetables. The wrap was really big and kept me full (but I didn't feel bloated at all) all the way till dinner. Will definitely order this again!
