Jollibee!  OK Mar 02, 2014
Categories : Filipino | Fast Food | Halal

Was in the Orchard area to run some errands and decided to get some Krispy Kreme Donuts as well as this Jollibee. At 1630hrs, although its long after lunch hours and still away from dinner time, the queue is still pretty long, but fortunately, there were about 7 to 8 counters serving and they are quite efficient. Ordered an large fries, a 2-pcs meal and a 1-pcs meal. The price is rather cheap, as compared to Popeyes or KFC. For a 1-pcs meal with rice, it only costs $3.80. As for the large fries, it only costs $2.75 for a whopping large packet of fries. Of course, they do serve other dishes like Hot Dog Bun and Spaghetti, as well as Ice Cream cones.

The chicken was pretty normal, nothing to wow about. The sauce is simply normal mushroom sauce, just that the gravy is more concentrated and its good to go with the rice. The rice is pack in a way that it looks like a rice ball and it can be kept warm. All in all, my conclusion is that Jollibee is very normal, not worth queuing for 15-20 minutes.

Pineapple Cookies OK Mar 02, 2014

Categories : Bakery

Thye Moh Chan is a very old brand, it is also under the Breadtalk Group. Thye Moh Chan only has one flagship outlet, at New Bridge Road and it specialises in making pastries like Sweet & Salty Tau Sar Piah and also, cookies and tarts like Pineapple Tarts.

The Tau Sar Piah comes in two different sizes, the mini ones ($0.90ea) and the big ones. The Big one costs $22.80 each and it can be served for 8-10 person. Both the big and mini ones have the same filling.

As for the current Pineapple Tarts, it comes in different flavours like Longan Pineapple Tart and Prunes Pineapple Tart. For a box of 8 individually packed tarts, it costs $22.80. The pineapple tarts were rather normal and its very dry, but the ingredients inside is very generous and pineapple taste can definitely be felt.

UFO Bread & Royal Pudding!  OK Mar 02, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Korean | Bakery | Desserts and Cakes | Burgers and Sandwiches | Salads/ Acai Bowl

Was my second time visiting Paris Baguette, it was again, full of people. Firstly, the food is really not cheap, secondly, the walkway towards the al-fresco seating is really narrow and the walkway for selection of the breads is also very narrow, thus till now, I only visited twice.

Bought its UFO Bread ($3.00) this time, the UFO Bread is just pretty normal, except that it really looks like an UFO, otherwise the bread was really normal, the filling was just plain custard, which taste like vanilla. As per normal, bought the Royal Pudding. The Royal Pudding comes in various kind of flavours, including Mango, Strawberry, Caramel, Chocolate and Original, ranging from $4.00 to $4.50/bottle. The Royal Pudding is really ROYAL. Somemore, you can recycle the bottle after use! The bottle is really cute-looking and its quite useful, can be used to keep water and etc!

All in all, for a price of $3-$7 for breads, in my honest opinion, really not worth it. But, for its Royal Pudding, I'll still be there again soon!

UmiSushi Platter OK Mar 02, 2014

UmiSushi Platter

UmiSushi Platter

This is the UmiSushi Lovely Elf Platter, $49.90. It was introduced during the Christmas and New Year season. The platter includes 42 pcs of different sushi, including California Ham Sushi, Unagi Sushi, Egg Sushi etc.

The sushis were very fresh, nicely designed and prepared. The best was the Unagi Sushi, the unagi was grilled till prefect and with the rice, it tasted superb. For a price of $49.90, I think its worth it for 42 pcs of sushi and condiments like soy sauce and wasabi.

Recommended Dish(es):  Unagi Sushi

Vegetarian Dishes!  Smile Mar 04, 2014

Categories : Coffeeshop | Vegetarian

This stall serves great Vegetarian 'Zi Char', with lots of choices. My favourites are actually the salad prawn, five spice roll and Tom Yam Fried Rice.

Their Salad Prawn is not served like other vegetarian zi char stall, their prawns are in small bites and the salad sauce is served seperately. For $10, there are about 15 piece of bite-sized Prawns and generous amount of salad sauce. The Prawns are crispy on the outer and soft in the inner. The salad sauce goes very well with the prawns.

The Five Spice Roll is one of the best dishes. Each roll is $4 and it will be cut into 8-10 pieces. In each five spice roll, there are ingredients like carrot, chestnut and vegetarian meat. Each bite is full of meat and chestnut flavour, outer layer is also very crispy. Normally one Five Spice Roll is not enough.

Tom Yam Fried Rice are priced at $3.50, $4.50 and $6. For $4.50, its a rectangle box filled with tom yam rice, peas,, ham and some vegetarian floss. The Tom Yam Paste is not too spicy but is flavourful enough. Peas and hams goes well with the rice as well. The vegetarian floss gives the tom yam fried rice a special flavour, spicy and sour.

All in all, spending $18.50 for two is considered cheap for such good food. Definitely worth a try if you're in that vicinity.
