Chillaxing… OK Apr 21, 2015
Categories : American | Fast Food | Halal | Burgers and Sandwiches

I like the cozy ambience, the al-fresco sitting arrangement, the quiet surrounding on a weekday evening (with not a crowd to be seen). the clean tables & chairs, the good ventilation provided by the fans, the small ordering counter, the bigger collection counter, the bright colored block posters on the shelves, the happy & courteous staff.

However, I don't like the BK Black Beef Burger. The patty was very thin, bland and dry. The bacon is soggy, the lettuce is lifeless, even the flat black bun is tasteless. I don't like the chilli sauce either. It's not self-service like the other fast food joints.

Though I kinda…
Like the size of the soft drinks & the not-so-salty fries…or did the burger just got smaller?!

Last but not least…
We definitely don't like the price inflation…!!!
Pathetic Black…

Once you start, you can't stop! Smile Feb 28, 2015

These carrot cake sticks are my childhood fav!!!

The stall is manned by 2 people today, usually only the senior is around. Perhaps it's the weekends or simply because of the super huge crowd…
lol

Anyway, it's the commendable passion of the young man that had captured my attention (while queuing)… It is a hot & tedious process frying these yummy morsels.

The sticks were spaced & arranged meticulously onto the tray. He uses a hook to lower the tray slowly (without tilting) into the hot oil. Let it stayed in the hot oil for a few minutes while he prepares another tray.
Next, he has to steep-dunk the hot tray up & down a few times in the oil hot (I presumed so doing will retain the crispiness)…
Then the tray is taken out & let to cool aside before pouring all the sizzling Carrot Sticks onto the serving counter.

The Senior will pick 4 pieces at a time with a small tong & put them neatly into the paper bag, (awesomely) ignoring the hot oil seeping thru the paper bag & onto his palm. He then placed the paper bags into a plastic bag for takeaways...

There's a container of bamboo skewers placed in front of the glass case, at the service counter. Feel free to take if you really need them.

These morsels has a crunchily crispy skin with a soft center. You can taste the carrot bits if you'd chewed (enjoyingly) like me…

Be careful…it's piping hot…but it's so delicious that I finished the whole pack of 12 pieces in a jiffy!
lol

It's addictive!
Once you've started eating, you simply can't stop.

Yes. They're closing…
Business is terminating…
All the goodness will be gone forever…

The pieces of fleshy, tender & juicy Chicken…
The fragrant & fluffy Chicken Rice…
The crunchy mount-full of Bean Sprouts…
The fresh green & leafy Veggies…
The crispy-outside-tender-and-juicy-inside Toufu…

Yes.
Even the humble thick black Dark Soy Sauce…
The tangy Ginger Purée & the spicy Chilli Sauce…

All will be gone forever in the coming months…

Go now… & taste heaven if you've not done so… or forever hold your peace…

Bon Appetite!
lol

On the 2nd day of CNY OK Feb 20, 2015

Yay!
Heavenly Wang is open on 2nd day of CNY…

1st day of CNY (Chinese New Year) is always a very happening day. With visits to the in-law in the first half of the day & my own parent's house later in the day…

2nd day is a relaxing day in our family. Finally had a good night's sleep since the 29th day of the previous year…as it was our traditional believe that no sleep on the last day of the Lunar Calendar in order to keep Longevity for the elders (守岁)…
So waking up late on 2nd day is nothing extraordinary…

We had the Mee Rebus Set ($6.80) & the Signature Toast Set ($4.90). The noodle is well cooked to al-dente but the sauce is a little thicker than usual. It's a pleasant surprise that the eggs were already cracked into the saucer. Hubby liked the coffee as it was thick & not too sweet. The toast were crunchy but as usual, we think it was too thin…

There was only 2 lady staff at the counter so the queue took a little longer to move. Used tableware also took a little longer to clear from the tables…
lol

Anyway, it's really nice to have a cup of hot, steaming Teh-O on a relaxing day with family…

It's a good chillaxing experience…

It's been a long time since we last came here.
Today is a rainy day & we need piping hot soup to warm us up...
So we came here for dinner...before going for our weekly grocery shopping in that mega, air-conditioned supermarket.
There was no queue & we got seated rather quickly.
Decent space between tables

Decent space between tables

The pictures & decors on the walls & shelves above were very nostalgic.
Tables & seats were decently spaced apart.
Menu

Menu

Menu

The Menu had been upgraded but so is the prices... sad
The Soups used to be $4.50 onwards just a few months ago...now they're at least $6 onwards...
The soup bowl used to be almost double the rice bowl...now they're the same size...
sad
Piping Hot Peppery Soup

Piping Hot Peppery Soup

We didn't want a fat-laden meal so we didn't order the Pork Ribs Soup.
Then again, all varieties of meat were drowned in the same pot of hot peppery stock...
Pig's Stomach Soup 猪肚汤 ($6)

Pig's Stomach Soup 猪肚汤 ($6)

Pig's Stomach Soup 猪肚汤 ($6) sad
- the pieces of stomach were huge & long
- not as tender & soft as it used to be
- it took me a long time to chew
Pork Tenderloin Soup 腰肉片汤 ($6.50)

- big pieces of meat
- tender but still QQ
Kai Lan 芥兰 ($3.50)

Kai Lan 芥兰 ($3.50)

Kai Lan 芥兰 ($3.50) sad
- a just portion for that price
- but older Kai Lan was used
- the thick stems & leaves needed careful chewing
- oyster sauce is bland
- fried shallots are crispy
Braised Beancurd Skin 焖腐竹 ($3.50)

Braised Beancurd Skin 焖腐竹 ($3.50)

Braised Beancurd Skin 焖腐竹 ($3.50) smile
- huge pieces were served
- the Beancurd Skin were probably braised whole but they'd forgotten to cut into smaller pieces before serving
- tasted just nice, not too salty
- it's not soft but rather Q enough as a good bite

Rice 白饭 (80cents) mad
- soft but not fragrance enough to attract a second order
Add soup please...

Did u know...
This is the gesture to inform the service staff to top up our soup. tongue

Receipt

Receipt

We liked the fact that there's no service charge.
We liked they kept their wet tissues priced at 20cents each.
We liked the efficient elderly service staff...they're friendly & warm.
We liked the hot peppery soup, especially on a rainy day...
In fact, we liked it so much that we'd asked to top up our soup 3 times!
Shiokalicious!

Verdict: chopstickchopstick
A piping hot peppery meal on a rainy day...

A piping hot peppery meal on a rainy day...

Tips:
Ignore the rest, just order the Pork Ribs Soup 排骨肉骨茶 ($7)...only the Pork Ribs Soup!
No, not even the Premium Loin Ribs Soup 特级龙骨肉骨茶 ($9.50) - not worth it...
We're used to tidying-up after our meal
