Groupon deal OK Dec 08, 2014

Categories : Japanese

Saw this deal on Groupon and decided to try this Japanese restaurant in Tanjong Pagar. When we entered the restaurant, it looked a little simple, as if it is a cafe. The staff speaks some japanese. We ordered Unagi rice, grilled salmon and fried chicken. The Unagi rice was delicious! The unagi itself was soft and tasty while the rice is soft and truly japanese-style. The grilled salmon was average while the gried chicken was poor in my opinion. Nothing amazing as a whole but it's worth a try, since it is always full and you have to make reservation prior to your visit. A little short of staff as you can see them running all around the place answering to orders and delivering food to tables.

Great Food. Even Better View. Smile Dec 08, 2014

Finally got a chance to try Equinox. Went there for my anniversary and managed to get a seat by the window. I then found out that a seat by the window has a surcharge! But nevertheless, we wanted to try dining by the window so we took it up. The view was awesome! Eating while facing the CBD buildings was amazing. Go during evening so that you can see both day and night sceneries! Sit away from the window and it feels very much like an ordinary restaurant.

Service-wise was so-so. Though it was more towards fine-dining, the service did not reach that standard. Moreover, tables were too close to one another in my opinion. Feels like they were trying to maximise space and you could hear the conversations from the table beside!

We ordered Foie Gras and Pork Belly. Both were delicious! Just that the latter was a little dry for my liking. Serving size was not too big as expected, bu they had free flow bread for appetiser which filled our tummies.

Would visit again in future though, more for the view!

Lunch gathering with friends Smile Mar 22, 2014

Chanced upon this stall. I have tried the one at bedok north blk 85 itself, but this is the first branch that i've come across in another coffeeshop. So i have decided to give it a try. Ordered the black carrot cake and i was amazed by how tasty it is. With the option to have it spicy or not? i had mine just a little and it was already great. The most important thing is that it does not fare much different to the one in blk 85 bedok north itself. The stall sells other things like the famous fried oyster omelette, which i didn't try. Will definitely come by to try it next time.

Ordered their duck rice and it tasted brilliant. The rice is fragrant and you have the option to have it covered in sauce. The duck meat was tender, not too tough or dry. There were 2 slices of cucumber, which i feel they should have given more to make it a more balanced dish. The stall also sells other items such as salted vegetables and pig organ soup/noodle. Besides duck, it also sells char siew and roast pork meat. Will return again to eat their duck rice in future.

Tasty mee siam served with a generous portion of spring onion and bee hoon. It also contains beansprouts and fried beancurd. The sauce is not too spicy and not too salty, which is great. For those who prefer it spicier, there is chilli.placed at the side of the plate to add how much you want. The sauce is not too thick and lime has been squeezed into the mee siam dish before it was served. Will drop by again someday when i have craving for it again.
