Som Tum OK Jul 10, 2012

Categories : Thai | Café | Kids-Friendly

For roughly $4 to $5 a plate, eating at this hole in the wall won't create a huge hole in your wallet.

The restaurant's food feels authentic as there seems to be Thai people working in the kitchen and serving you. Please be patient and enunciate while ordering as the way we accent our English is slightly different.

Of the dishes, I'd recommend the Som Tum. Have actually gone back to pack away 2 portions of it for a potluck as it's really authentic. Beware, it's quite spicy.

The Phad Thai was a let down as there seemed to be tomato ketchup in it which lost its tanginess and natural sour flavor from the lime. The Pineapple fried rice's presentation wasn't up to standard, then again, you're not paying $12+ at a fancy restaurant.

This place is okay for a quick bite, but you won't want to come down here if you're trying to impress someone.

Categories : Japanese | Ramen

Was lucky that there was no line when we went cause we went early, however, when we were leaving, the place was pretty much packed. So happy to have finally experienced the rave that all the New Yorkers are on about.

Condiments on the table. Was a little surprised as I thought the presentation would have been a little better for this. The interior of the restaurant is really quite nice. My favorite section is the wall with all the plates/bowls.5 Flavored Potato balls that had a couple Japanese sauces, Curry, and Cheese flavor. My pick would have been the Mentaiko flavored one. I felt like I couldn't taste the Cheese so much. This was the side that came when the fatty pork and the Egg was ordered. Loved how the egg was served up chilled just like the hot spring eggs that we'd eat in Taiwan. The fatty pork that was on the side wasn't very unique but still tasty.Ramen that my friend orderedMy bowl that I ordered. Loved how there was no Seaweed and i twas fungus instead. The egg here is warm though, probably due to the heat of the soup. The bowl may look small in the picture, but I assure you that it's filling. The ramen that I ordered had a modern zest to it so it wasn't the traditional ramen taste, however, at the end of consuming the ramen, the saltiness did get to you.

Raw Fish Porridge Smile Jun 03, 2012
Categories : Singaporean | Hawker Centre | Porridge/Congee | Kids-Friendly

Those whom are feeling under the weather, with elderly, or kids-- this is a good choice as it's quite a hassle-free dish to choose.

There was barely a line for the store and hence the food could be obtained quickly. We didn't think the Raw Fish Porridge would mean that the Fish would be served separately on another plate. Luckily, my friend and I are okay with sashimi.Put the fish slices into the porridge, and the slices would cook due to the heat of the porridge. The porridge was thick and you were not able to taste the individual rice pieces--perfect! The sauce they provided was also not full of soy sauce, hence no need to be afraid of over-saltiness.

I ailing throat felt quite soothed after this bowl or congee.

Bak Kut Teh OK Jun 03, 2012
Categories : Malaysian | Food Court | Bak Kut Teh

The Malaysian Food Street is really crowded near eating hours so be sure to go there early if you want to acquire seats for more people.

The Bak Kut Teh is different from the White Pepper type that you'd get in Singapore. It's slightly more herbal and though it's dark, it's not very salty. However, it's quite flavorful so the rice that came along with it helped "reset" the taste buds. There were quite a few garlic bulbs inside so though who are not fond of garlic should probably avoid this. Mushroom lovers would like how there were quite a # of mushrooms inside, however the Pork pieces were rather chewy (perhaps overly small) and there weren't that many pieces to begin with.

Yummy Yogurt Smile Jun 03, 2012
Categories : Frozen Yogurt

I'm a super huge Yogurt fan and this is the closest that I've experienced in Singapore to the California experience!
Only thing I wish they had as toppings is Mochi as that's my top yogurt topping choice.

However, I'm sure this shop can appeal not just to students but also family with kids or adults as well. You're supposed to grab a cup and then fill the cup with the flavors that you would like. Flavors I'd recommend is the Lychee and Plain! Grape and Strawberry is a tad sweet for my liking and Chocolate yogurt is just a little hard for me to accept.

The price is deemed by the weight of your cup- something to keep in mind when you're adding toppings! The yogurt bubbles were something unique but take heed to not put in too much.Though the design of the store is simple, it's a good use of space and nicely decorated and themed.
