Mango pomelo OK Feb 11, 2013

Mango pomelo

Mango pomelo

The place was crowded and we managed to get seats after a while. My first time here and I go for the signature dessert, Mango Pomelo. It was okay. It was very sweet, from the first till the last mouthful. The mango fragrance was very strong but because it was so sweet, it made me wonder what kind of syrup was used to make it. I guess it was good that the bowl wasn't that big?

The place is located away from the busy part of Little India.
Fish Afghani

Fish Afghani

The Fish Afghan (11.90) was something new to me. The fish was tender but could have been more flavourful. I could not really tell what the taste was supposed to be, a bit sourish I suppose but not at all distinctive.
Vegetable Chop Suey

Vegetable Chop Suey

The Vegetable chop suey (6.90) was a simple dish that was pleasing. A sweet and sour sauce was served with fried noodles, a refreshing combination.

There are a lot of F&B choices in Nex and I probably wouldn't have chosen The Ship if I had not plan to...it looks dark from the outside and it IS really dark when you're inside too!
Spaghetti Carbonara

Spaghetti Carbonara

I managed to place my orders in spite of the dark and was pleasantly surprised when my order of spaghetti carbonara came. It was so nicely garnished! It was tasty but the portion could have been bigger.

Now that the renovations at the Ion Orchard basement food hall are done, there are a lot of options available for foodies. And on the Saturday that I was there for the Open Rice food tasting, there were lots of hungry people pondering over the many food options available.

My mission was to locate the Four Fingers outlet on the first try so that I wouldn't have to circle the place for ten million times. And...I failed. Well, almost. I was about five steps past the Four Fingers outlet when drawn by the long L-shaped queue and my kiasu Singaporean instincts, I turned back to take a second look and bingo, it was THE ONE!

The place was P-A-C-K-E-D! The queue was consistently threatening to overshoot the boundaries of the outlet while we were having our dinner. Later on, I found out from the OR staff that the queues were horrendously long even on weekdays! Luckily, the OR team had gone earlier to reserve seats at the long island table in the centre of the outlet.

All of us were given a set to try. I got to try the chicken wrap, and this is how it looks from the outside.

The wrap came with a tangy tomato dip (awesome!) and a lime to add to the zest. The dip had bits of tomato in it - a very nice touch! I like that the fillings were moist and the skin of the wrap was not too thick.

The set also came with a Coke. For me, the portion was just right, but if you are feeling ravenous or just a plain big eater, then it might not be enough to fill your stomach since it does not come with any side dish. This is a good option if you are feeling virtuous and want to opt for a healthier choice. smile

Pizza bonding Smile Dec 02, 2012

Categories : Pasta

I always find pizza to be a type of food which is really suitable for bonding. It's round (as the Chinese, would say '团圆'), everybody eats from the same pizza (so you can't be selfish and finish everything by yourself), and the cheese sometimes requires the diner to put in a wee bit effort at tearing a slice away from the main pizza (damsel in distress, anyone?).

And this Hawaiian pizza from Canadian pizza really helped to relieve the stress for my kakis that day. Somehow, our stress melted away with each bite and pizza being the good old comfort food it is, really made our tummies happy. With the cheese and chilli flakes, the taste was just as a Hawiian pizza should be, with the right amount of ham and pineapple slices.

This pizza fed four adults comfortably. We did not order any other sides, except for soft drinks.
