Old School Delights - Food Smile Jun 21, 2012

Old School Delights (OSD) at Upper Thomson Road area serves local dishes and lots of nostalgia. The eating place is a clever eating concept with the whole deco focus on the theme of going back in time of 'old school days'. The food served was pretty alright and was crowded during meal time. There are games like 'Old Maid' to play and enjoy the old photographs on the wall. Mrupupup had nasi lemak, chicken cutlet rice, thick coffee and bandung syrup drink. Just want to mention that the service in OSD was impressive. The Lady Boss took effort to ask whether Mrupupup was there for the first time. On the way out, we gave the feedback that the drinks order were mixed up and the Lady Boss gave us a small complimentary packet of cookies (good gesture) and took note of our feedback. Excellent service OSD!

Wimbly Lu Chocolate Cafe is a nice refreshing cafe that serves chocolate drinks, coffee and wonderful desserts. Mrupupup visited the cafe located in Jalan Riang to have Mayan hot chocolate drink (vey thick chocolate drink with a tinge of spice), chai latte (mix of tea and coffee) and very nice cheesecake plus toffee sauce waffle (inserted the photo). Really enjoyed the Wimbly Lu cafe and love the vibrant atmosphere. Love to take photos of the lovely desserts serve by the cafe. The cafe is located in the Braddell Heights private estate.

Men-ichi Japanese Ramen is located within Shokutsu 10 at B1 in Nex Mall, serving Japanese ramen noodles, cuisine and side dishes. Mrupupup had a very nice Japanese Pork Cha Sui Ramen Noodles with a half boiled egg and the side dish of Pork Buns. Vey nice! Mrupupup cleaned off the Japanese Ramen in the bowl! Men-ichi has decent set lunches in the afternoon with various types of side dishes. Yumzz!

Modesto's at Vivocity serves nice Western/ Italian meals. Mrupupup visited the Modesto's in Vivocity during dinner time. The place was not crowded and people were enjoying their meals and having happy conversations. Some sat outside and enjoyed the evening views of the Keppel Harbour area. Mrupupup had a dinner set which comes with bread & olive oil, thick mushroom soup, thin crusted traditional Italian wood fired pizza, vongole pasta with clams, tiramisu cake and glasses of wine. The evening was enjoyable.

Juchheim baumchuken cakes are here in Singapore's Takashimaya store (basement two). Check out the pretty box and the chocolate layered baumkuchen cake below. Baumchuken is a type of german and japanese creation with the characteristic 'tree like rings'around the cake. Baumchuken is german word for 'tree cake'. As with most Japanese food creations, their food products comes with pretty packaging. Juchheim is from Kobe Japan and was establised in 1909. The layered cake was nice and tastes unique. It would be better if the baumchuken cake is eaten chilled or with a good cup of green tea. Need to slowly eat in small bites, in fact savour the cake. Yumz! Mrupupup loves cake!
