Pricy but Fresh food Smile Jun 21, 2012

- The Shop
The modern and semi-fine fining Japanese restaurant is located at the new Marina Bay Financial District. You can either walk over from Raffles Place Mrt or Marina Bay Mrt and by year 2013 you can take the Downtown Mrt which stop within Marina Bay Link Mall!

There are two section of outdoor sitting area, indoor with aircon and a huge VIP room for 12-15pax.

- The Food
Kurobuta Miso Yaki ($26)

Grilled marinated black pork with homemade miso sauce. The miso was not overpowering and meat was cooked to perfection.

Buta Shiro Kakuni ($18)

The simmered black pork in clear stock was tender and succulent. Weirdly, the texture and taste was very similar to our canned Narcissus Stewed Pork Chop.

Gindara Saikyo Yaki ($26)

Sweet miso marinated grilled cod fish was delicious. The fish simply melts in your mouth.

Salmon Zukushi ($58)

The 3-kind of salmon sashimi platter - salmon, salmon belly, salmon roe was fresh.

Tokusyou Nigiri 12 Syu ($64)

Selected premium sushi platter - 12 kinds of different sushi was also fresh.

Kaisen Sansyoku Wan ($38)

The dish was served with 3 bowls of rice with sea urchin & salmon roe, yellowtail & sesame sauce and seasoned tuna red meat. I thought the sea urchin has a very strong weird taste which I don't know how to appreciate. But some of my friends really love them.

Madai Yaki Anchovy Flavour ($24)

The grilled Japanese red snapper was accompanied with red chilli pepper and anchovy paste. Its a little dryer compare to Gindara Saikyo Yaki.

- My Opinion
Immerse yourself in the beautiful ambiance and satisfy your craving for tasteful Japanese food today! It may be a little pricy, but you can be assure that all their food are freshly prepared and cooked.

Crew members was very attentive and prompt too.

- The Shop
Celebrity Chef Peter Neo has opened a new semi-fine dining Italian Restaurant off Yio Chu Kang Road on 28 May 2012. Well-known for his superb culinary skills, witty and innovative creations for fusion Italian food, Pietro also has a luxurious touch to its interior decor, with a beautiful feature wall that blends into the alfresco, making you feel that you are in Italy!

- The Food
Garlic Bread, Garlic Sauce
Garlic bread will be served complimentary with any order. Nice garlic flavour sauce that was noticeable but not overpowering.

Prosciutto & Melone @ $18

The parma ham wrapped with rock melon was a beautiful combination of salty and sweetness. Fancy appetize that pleases both the eye and the palate.

Zuppa di Mare @ $12

A seafood feast of delicious tomato broth concocted with a variety of fresh succulent seafood such as prawns, clams, mussels, squids with white wine, basil leaves and chilli. Solid flavourful soup!

Funghi Portobello @ $20

Large portobello mushroom basked with crab meat, ebiko and prawn was superbly succulent and the extra oomph from the rich gorgonzola sauce, mmmm...

Gnocchi alla Marinara @ $22
This was the first time I had tasted the gnocchi (potato dumplings) sauteed with seafood in creamy marinara (Italian tomato sauce) and topped with deep fried baby octopus. The flavors melded nicely with the seafood but I thought it was a little starchy to my liking.

Pancetta Arrosto @ $26

A steamed-roasted pork belly that gives you beautiful succulent moist tender pork with crisp crackling skin served with smooth apple sauce, porcini and kidney beans. Every texture, flavour and aroma worked together perfectly. Plenty of meat and bags of flavour.

Spaghetti alle Vongole @ $18
The briny juices from the fresh clams flavor the brothy white wine sauce. I will love to bits if there was a stronger taste of white wine and a little bit more of chilli.

Costolette di Agnello @ $42
Grilled Australian lamb rack accompanied with broccoli pudding and gorgonzola sauce was unique. The lamb was tender and my friends think it was grilled to perfection, I felt it was a little dry thou. Note that the chef may replace the broccoli pudding (was tasty) to carrot or mushroom pudding (may be a tad rich) depend on stock availability.

Calamari Fritti @ $18

The squid dredged in self made battered was chewy and delectable on its own. Not greasy, fried to perfection, slightly salty and definitely one of the most delicious seafood delicacies.

Pizza Pietro @ $26
Thin crust with homemade pork sausage with cream, porcini, rocket and mozzarella cheese.

Tortino di Lava con Rum @ $15

Digging into this rich and moist molten chocolate lava cake was awesome! Cue the ooey-gooey center leaving you want more... and more. Warning, this goodness is for chocolate lover only!

Tortino alla Frutta @ $14.80

Another new creative creation of Chef Peter. This frutti lava not only look impressive but also have the "wow" factor!

Decadent rivers of passion fruit encased in soft fragrant cake waiting for me to indulge into a creamy pool of deliciousness, mmm....

Tiramisu @ $12

We finally (finally!!) wrapped up our meal with tiramisu which I thought was delectably delicious. Soft layer of cake, light mascarpone, with a right balance of espresso and cream liqueur.

- My Opinion
In my opinion, this could be one of the best Italian Restaurant I had visited so far. Maybe I don't know how to appreciate the favor in my past visit, but over here the taste are well liked to my palate.

Don't let the remoteness of this place scare you. You will definitely find a sumptuous spread of dishes that uses original homemade sauce and fresh top quality ingredients. Not forgetting the exquisite desserts and wine.

yumyum chicken rice Smile Jun 13, 2012
Categories : Coffeeshop

The coffee shop is behind Market Street (Golden Shoes) Food Centre, they have outdoor and indoor seating area with non-air con. However 2nd floor has more seating capacity and its with air con! So, you know where to find your seat if you visit this coffee shop ;)

This stall is famous for their roasted duck rice, roasted pork, bbq pork (Char Siew) and chicken rice.

My favourite will be either roasted duck rice or the soy sauce chicken rice. The brown soy sauce was sumptuous, thick and flavoured with aromatic sesame seed oil. Chicken meat was tender and nicely cook.

As you can see from the photos, a generous amount of delicious gravy was poured over the chicken, it definitely make you come back for more!

My other friends like their Char Siew rice. According to them, it was well marinated, tasty, chewy, juicey and charred. They love the burnt parts.

ma la pot OK Jun 13, 2012
Categories : Sichuan | Food Court | Steamboat/Hot Pot

They do not have a wide range of items for you to select, few type of veggies, 3 type of meat and some seafood. You pick your own ingredients @ $3.50-$4.50 per 100g, and they will stir-fry with the ma la sauce. There are 3 levels of spiciness.

We had pork, cabbage, fungus, peanuts and their basic ingredients and sauce for about $21.70. Its huge enough for 3pax to share.

When eating Ma La Pot you will notice that the flavours appear richer and more intense... Expect to have some numbness. We had middle level of spiciness and it was ok for me, lots of black pepper taste thou. It will be perfect if the ma la is more flavorful, beside the dried chilli and black pepper, there isn't much taste to it.

yummy tom yum Smile Jun 13, 2012

Categories : Coffeeshop

The coffee shop is opposite UOB Plaza 1, and behind Market Street (Golden Shoes) Food Centre. They have outdoor sitting area, indoor and more seat on 2nd level with air con.

Tantalise your tastebuds, and treat them to the slightly zesty and tangy tom yum flavours that will leave you wanting more... and more… and more.

They have 4-5 types of noodles to choose from, selection of fresh slice fish, fried fish, or tom yum.

If you take away, additional 20cent is chargeable for the container. They will separate the fried fish in a plastic bag so that it won't turn soggy.

My favourtie was maggie mee friend fish tom yum!
