Dinner at Ma Maison Smile Apr 10, 2013

I have always wanted to try this place at Bugis Junction but got a little deterred by its price last time(poor student XD).

After a week of long hours of crazy over time, I went shopping with my colleagues and had dinner at Ma Maison!

We shared a nice soup and salad. We had their fruit tart for dessert which was really tasty and nice.

I will definately go back to try other dishes.

Spending per head: Approximately $20(Dinner)

Hightea Buffet OK Apr 10, 2013
Categories : Multi-Cuisine | Hotel | Seafood | Buffet

Bought vouchers from deal to celebrate my friend's birthday with their high tea buffet lunch. Since I have tried their lunch and dinner buffet in the past, I had high hopes of nice food that late afternoon. But I was a little disappointed in it.
This is my plate of appetisers and sushi.

The sushi was alright but tasted like any other sushi outside and was not special in anyway. The appetisers are not bad and my friends took a round of their salad. I wasn't exactly a salad fan so no salad for me XD

This is my plate of cooked food.

Ok lets just say, if you are serious about offering some sort of dim sum for high tea, you might as well add in the common har gao or siew mai instead of lor mai gai and lotus paste pau(though both are not bad). The cooked food was passable.

And finally the desserts, it was the part where I was most disappointed at.

The only nice dessert on the plate was the egg tart and the chcoltate tart with strawberries on top. The rest tasted a little weird or just normal desserts. Being a fan of good desserts, I was really hoping for delicious desserts since it was a high tea buffet, but Aquamarin disappointed me.

The only dish that I went for second round was its Cream of Brocolli which was really tasty.

Recommended Dish(es):  Cream of brocolli

Spending per head: Approximately $38(Tea)

Japanese Bakery Cry Apr 10, 2013

Categories : Japanese | Bakery

Bakery serving japanese bread has always attracted me due to their pretty display of bread and cakes and at times very interesting flavours. I notices this Yuzu cheesecake the other day and felt that it was really interesting, since the store beside it offered it at a cheaper price with any ala carte perchase me and my brother shared one of it.

I was very disappointed in it. The cheesecake tasted like a block of cheese with Yuzu jelly on the top. The whole taste was very weird. I was anticipating on how they include the Yuzu flavouring in the cheesecake instead of just placing a jelly on top.

Spending per head: Approximately $4(Dinner)

Breakfast worthwhile:) Smile Apr 10, 2013

Cafe Cartel is one of my favourite breakfast place. I have been coming here for weekend breakfast ever since the stall opened in Hougang Mall and after it closed down and move to Serangoon NEX. It has been years and counting on. Throughout the years there were some changes to their breakfast and I really liked the addition of corroisants to their menu. The set cost from $6.95 to $7.95 with eggs, bacon and sausage with choice of corroisants, pancakes or french toasts.

After they stopped their free flow of home made bread, we ordered a basket of garlic bread everytime we have breakfast there.

Recommended Dish(es):  Corroisant specialty

Spending per head: Approximately $8(Breakfast)

Java chop frappe! Smile Apr 04, 2013

Categories : American | Coffee

In starbucks, I really liked java chip frappe and dark mocha frappe. Java chip frappe has the java chips inside and adds the crunch in the drink. The mix of coffee and chocolate in dark mocha has a nice mix. Frappe is definately one of my favourite drinks cause of Singapore's hot weather. I like Starbuck's blueberry muffin too. I use my starbucks card to buy which will give one free cup with every 12 cups.
