Utterly disappointed.

Was craving for some hot fish soup around the neighbourhood area.
The first thing that came to my mind is this 24 hours Teochew Resturant who serves yummy fish soup (in the past).
I was so excited to get there because in the past , the fish soup consists of bitter gourd, yummy vegetables, lots of thick fresh fish slices, tou kee and also my favourite seaweed.

The fish soup comes in two prices, $4.50 and $5.50.
So I was quite excited for not coming back to this resturant for at least a year, so my sister and I order two $5.50, in hope of having a more fufilling supper.

The service is also horrible.
I'm sorry to say this, but the crew who served us was a PRC.
He was the kitchen chef, as it's an open concept kitchen.
At the same time, he is the one who took our orders.
There's another crew who let us stand there not knowing what to do while he seated inside the air-conditioned resturant and refused to serve us.

When the kitchen chef served us, he actually shouted really loud, and say in Chinese "ni yao shen me?" which means what you want?. I was thinking perharps he couldn't hear us, so he speaked so loudly.
But from my point of view, he is just plain lazy to serve us while hes' cleaning the utensils as when we ordered,
he actually just throw the empty pot onto the stove, and do everything in a reluctant manner.
Sighh, speechless.

The food, utterly disappointed and shocked at the same time that I even forgotten to took a photo of my fish soup.
The $5.50 consists of about 6 slices of stick-together-stinky-fishy fish, and veges. (No more bitter gourd, seaweed, and tou kee.) sad

Needless to mention, the quality of the fish slices has also dropped tremendously.
The texture felt like it was soaked inside salt water for very long to get rid of the fishy smell and soften it.
But gosh, the fishy smell is soooooo horrible that we have to eat it with lots of chilli sauce.
I'm not a person who likes to waste food, so I rather finish it with lots of chilli sauce than wasting $11 for both.
The soup wise, is not really as tasty as it use to be.
Theres no more fried spring onion spreaded over the soup also.
I guess it's because of the lack of bittergourd to bring out the tastiness of the soup.
The soup is like cooked with lots of salt and msg. EWW.

Also, I would like to apologise for the poor quality photo which could not clearly display the resturant name,
but as can be seen from the picture, the crew was standing there smoking, looking like hes ready to smash your camera if you go nearer. So, who dares to go nearer?

Overall, I would not bother to go back to this horrible Teochew resturant.
However, the location of the resturant is really good, it has a direct carpark right in front it.
I believe if the service and quality of food is to be improved the business will defintely improve a lot.
But at the same time, I guess they had already lose a lot of loyal fans who supported them for the past few years.
Sighh, you may try it at your own risk.

(Top up $3.40 if you ordered the set meal to enjoy this offer!)

Overall, I might patronize this outlet again as I'm truly in love with the food.
The atmosphere is certainly not very relaxing as you would actually get smelly and oily after eating the hot pots.
Furthermore, the price is not really pocket friendly if you dine in for two at $69.
However, if you are ordering the set meal of two for three, it's kinda more worth the price as the food portion is actually quite a lot for three of us to finish.

Also, the service is not really satisfying as I had to repeatly request for my ice water being refilled and for my orders to be processed faster. The dishes are serving one by one in the wrong order such as the main course, side dish, drinks, side dish & lastly main dish again. Hence, I'm not really satisfied as you won't want to continue with the sashimi right after eating the pork rice in stone pork as the taste is truly affected.

So, try your luck there! Good food, poor service, average atmosphere.

Wooo, the photos of the food still makes me linger over the Gong pao chicken (宫保雞丁). tongue
Had my dinner at Serangoon Nex today, was searching up and down, looking for the right restaurant after my last day of Christmas shopping before Monday.

Was actually expecting to dine in another Japanese Resturant, but yeah after our shopping, the closing time were also near. So, we stroll around quickly, and got attracted by the smell when we walked pass.

For dinner, we actually ordered the Set meal for Four to cater to Three of us. But the portion is up to my expectation, and too much for us to finish actually.

The set meal costs $58.90++.
Inclusive of
-One Large Hot Pot Chicken. (Available in Spicy or non-spicy.)
-One Large Tom Yum Prawn. (Available in Spicy or less-spicy.)
-One handmade Fish or Prawn Paste.
- Jar of Soft Drink. (Pepsi.)
- Four White Rice.-The Tom Yum Prawns. (★★★★☆)
With prawns on the top layer, fries on the bottom layer and tom yum soup base.
-The Gong Bao Chicken. (★★★★★) MY PERSONAL FAVE!
With 4x4 cm size chicken breast cubes, capsicums and gong bao chicken soup base.(★★★★☆) CREATIVITY FULL MARKS.
-The Fish or Prawn paste, which I still don't know which it is.
Delicately packed in a small bag with a hole at the front.
To be squeeze into the Gong bao chicken soup and eat like maybe... fish paste noodles? Squeezing in process~The boiling fish paste noodles. As seen, the restaurant name is Chicken Hot Pot.
So all the food are served in mini hotpots! Super cute and convenient!
Also, the restaurant caters to those personal mini hot pot. (Portion quite big.) The drinks in jug.

Overall, I will certainly patronize this outlet again as I'm truly impressed with the service, food, atmosphere and price!
From topping up soups, refilling drinks for us automatically and most importantly, I don't get smelly and oily after eating the hotpots!
Hahahaha, I think best part is still the price. $69.80 (Round up $70) for the whole family to a restaurant is truly reasonably priced and pocket friendly for most families.

Most importantly, it's super pocket friendly for me.
