Wooo, the photos of the food still makes me linger over the Gong pao chicken (宫保雞丁). tongue
Had my dinner at Serangoon Nex today, was searching up and down, looking for the right restaurant after my last day of Christmas shopping before Monday.

Was actually expecting to dine in another Japanese Resturant, but yeah after our shopping, the closing time were also near. So, we stroll around quickly, and got attracted by the smell when we walked pass.

For dinner, we actually ordered the Set meal for Four to cater to Three of us. But the portion is up to my expectation, and too much for us to finish actually.

The set meal costs $58.90++.
Inclusive of
-One Large Hot Pot Chicken. (Available in Spicy or non-spicy.)
-One Large Tom Yum Prawn. (Available in Spicy or less-spicy.)
-One handmade Fish or Prawn Paste.
- Jar of Soft Drink. (Pepsi.)
- Four White Rice.-The Tom Yum Prawns. (★★★★☆)
With prawns on the top layer, fries on the bottom layer and tom yum soup base.
-The Gong Bao Chicken. (★★★★★) MY PERSONAL FAVE!
With 4x4 cm size chicken breast cubes, capsicums and gong bao chicken soup base.(★★★★☆) CREATIVITY FULL MARKS.
-The Fish or Prawn paste, which I still don't know which it is.
Delicately packed in a small bag with a hole at the front.
To be squeeze into the Gong bao chicken soup and eat like maybe... fish paste noodles? Squeezing in process~The boiling fish paste noodles. As seen, the restaurant name is Chicken Hot Pot.
So all the food are served in mini hotpots! Super cute and convenient!
Also, the restaurant caters to those personal mini hot pot. (Portion quite big.) The drinks in jug.

Overall, I will certainly patronize this outlet again as I'm truly impressed with the service, food, atmosphere and price!
From topping up soups, refilling drinks for us automatically and most importantly, I don't get smelly and oily after eating the hotpots!
Hahahaha, I think best part is still the price. $69.80 (Round up $70) for the whole family to a restaurant is truly reasonably priced and pocket friendly for most families.

HELLO! Open bowl lo!

This is my second time to Bei Sheng Seafood Resturant.
Without any creativity, we actually ordered the exact same food as it's just as good to fit the whole family of three liking.

Haha, this proves that the food is really nice for me to go back the second time!
Most importantly, it's super pocket friendly for me.
Imagine 4 dishes, including rice and drinks at average not more than $40?!
YES THAT'S HOW AWESOME.

Bak Kut Teh for Supper! Smile Dec 23, 2012

Categories : Bak Kut Teh

Today I'm going to recommend to you this famous Bak Kut Teh at Balestier!
TADA! It's the Founder Bak Kut Teh aka 發起人肉骨茶!!

So, went for some last minute Christmas shopping, and late night shopping for daily necessities at Mustafa.
After a long day of weekend shopping, we just hope for a bowl of sizzling hot soup, so we were cracking our heads where to head for supper!

On the way, we passed by this Founder Bak Kut Teh shop, which really attracted me on the first sight. What's special is that, their whole shop wallpaper is full of photos! Photos with famous celebrities all over the world! (Yes, I mean the four walls. ) shocked

Okay, so here comes the food!
Bak Kut Teh Ribs.

The Bak Kut Teh ribs! (My fave!)

YUMMY, no smelly smell. lol

And the salted vegetables!
$3.

______________________________

The food is sincerely nice, not absolutely fabulous, but still worth 4/5 thumbs up!
The first two bowl of soups served were warm, not sizzling hot, which is not what I expected as Bak Kut Teh should be served hot instead of warm.
However, the third bowl of Bak Kut Teh which we ended up ordering again, is sizzling hot and was more up to what I expected at first.

But overall, the heat has not affected much of it's taste.
Furthermore, the you tiao is the best part!
Imagine that crispy you tiao, being throughly soaked inside the bak kut teh, and the soup just burst in your mouth. SHIOK!

The braised pork trotters were not really their signature dishes, so it's actually tasting quite normal.
It's like you can go outside and get similar tasting braised sauce.

For the salted vegetables, it's actually quite up to my liking. Not too sweet, not too salty. Just the right portion, the right taste, the right munchy-ness.

Overall, we got three bowls of bak kut teh, one bowl of mixed pork intestines, one bowl of braised pork trotters, one plate of salted vegetables & drinks at total $48 (inclusive of GST, no service charge).

Personally I find the price reasonably priced for the yummy food, so TRY IT! tongue
It's located at 347 Balestier Road, #01-347.
Confirm no regrets! lol

So, that's all for today! GOOD NIGHT Open ricers! KAN FAI LO! bowl

Black Pepper Fish w French Fries and Mashed Potato

Double Up Chicken w Baked Potato & Onion Rings

Double Up Chicken w Baked Potato & Onion Rings

ALOHA everyone!

I'm going to recommend my all-time favourite western resturant - ASTON SPECIALITIES. lol

So I went to Aston the second time. And yeah, I had an delightful meal there.

Rewinding to the first time I went there was with my best girl friends.
The first reaction of me when they said " Let's go Aston" was "GOD, I'm gotta be broke when I'm out of that resturant."

But haha, I went in ,browsed through the menu.
And the price range was WOW, all pocket friendly prices!
I remember with every main course, it comes with two free side dishes.
So I ordered black pepper fish along with baked potato and mashed potato. (I love potatoes.tongue)
It only costs me like less than 10 bucks. Including a can of Pepsi at standard kopitiam pricing $1.50.
I was actually expecting the can of Pepsi to be like $3 per can. LOL
So without the service charge and gst, the whole meal costs me only $11 bucks.
Deep in my heart, I'm actually thanking god for the pocket friendly meal.

So the second time I went there, was with my sister.
We finish catching "House at the end of street" at Plaza Singapura's Golden Village movie theater.
It was quite nice, but the seats we chosed were too close to the screen and we were feeling nauseous after the movie.

Being quite sick, we were scrolling around Plaza Sing, looking for some pocket friendly food for dinner.
So after scrolling around for like 20 minutes, suddenly Aston came to my mind.
So we walked to The Cathay, which was only 5 minutes walk from Plaza Sing.
To our surprise, the queue was not very long. To be precisely, we were the first one in queue.

We were then seated in between two couples. Yes, two couples. One one the left, and one on the right.
(Actually I find it kind of squeezy.)

Ok so I'm quite a loyal fan of the Black pepper fish, so I chose the same dish again, but this time French fries and mash potato. ( French fries also made from potato. -.-)
And my sister chose the DOUBLEx2 up chicken.
Mine was like $9.80, and her's was $11+ I think.
So she got x2 chicken as stated , of different cooking methods.
She got a Teriyaki chicken and hmm... "fried chicken" along with onion rings and baked potato.
(Did you know, Aston's baked potato skin is so easily peeled off! YUMMY.)

We were served quickly in about 10 minutes of waiting time.
Then here comes the irritating climax part.
The woman on my right ,is damn "fish up."
She ordered a prime sirloin well done after we ordered.
So when we were almost finishing our meal (she's also finishing).
She complaint to the manager that the steak is too cooked.
She want it medium rare. WTF, how to uncook it huh auntie?
I was like, Miss, you chose well done, and I heard it.
(Cos I thinking down there, well done not hard meh?)
So she was left with a little piece of around 6cm meat, then she complain and requested for a plate of new one.
Ohmygosh, doesn't her boyfriend or husband feel humiliating for her?

But yeah, Aston actually served her a new plate. And apologise to her.
When we asked for bill, we actually noticed that there was no service charge nor GST.
Then I was like whispering to my sister, "wah, no service charge they still bother to care about her."

In conclusion, Aston has really good service crews. The food at Aston is also extremely pocket friendly and yummy.
Do visit http://www.astons.com.sg/ASTONS-MENUs.html for the full menu and also look out for their stores in Singapore!

They have quite a number of resturants in Singapore! Try it today! lol
BONJOUR!
