oreo makeshake Smile Jun 23, 2013

Tried makeshake because I wanted a drink after dinner! Choose the mini cup (vanilla ice cream at $2.8) together with oreos. The mini size cup was really a small cup but don't underestimate it! Because the drink is an ice cream blended drink, it's not a drink where you can just use a straw and drink it easily! You have to suck really hard on the straw to get the first sip into your mouth! It was really fun drinking it and before I finished it, I was already full!

It was really good but abit too sweet for my liking. I like how the oreo bits blends nicely with the ice cream smile There's also seats available but not many.

Unique cafe Smile Jun 17, 2013

Categories : Ice Cream and Gelato

Finally visited NeLi’s Icecream at Thomson! It’s a travel-themed ice cream place and it’s very quirky and cool for travel enthusiasts where you can spend maybe an hour there reading up on travel tips left by other patrons in the notebooks and you can leave your own tips there as well! I wanted to write something in it but unfortunately the books were filled up.

It’s categorized according to continents. They also have a book shelf on the “second” level of the cafe where the owners display the ornaments they brought back from their overseas trips and many guidebooks as well. Really interesting concept of the cafe, wouldn’t mind going there again for the good ice cream, nice ambience and fantastic reads. We went there around 5pm so there wasn’t much people around, weird timing but we had ice cream before dinner because all the other dining places weren't opened yet.

We ordered 2 scoops of premium ice cream because I really wanted to try something different and richer. So we ordered stout chocolate (my friend chose it) and Butterscotch nuts.

Both of the flavours contain mild alcohol with the former having some stout beer and the latter having whiskey in it. Even if you don’t like beer, I strongly recommend stout chocolate as the beer smell/taste was covered by the chocolate, but yet they complement each other. Butterscotch Nuts was nice as well, tasted somewhat like Rum and Raisin kind yet with a buttery and vanilla aftertaste.

Recommended Dish(es):  Stout chocolate

Spending per head: Approximately $4(Other)

Pasta love Smile Mar 03, 2013

I always head to pastamania for its nice and affordable pasta and this time was no exception! The branch at fusionopolis is less crowded during dinner time and one of the more ventilated outlets due to its higher ceilings!

Ordered meatballs (beef) spaghetti, cabonara and cheese sticks! The food came really fast except for the cheese sticks which they took 10mins to prepare. The cheese sticks were awesome! It's simply melt-in-your-mouth plus its soft and crispy texture, somemore it's still piping hot when served. I didn't have a good impression of meatballs spaghetti as I had it many years back but this was different than the horrible one I had last time! It's good! The meatballs were of chewy texture! Carbonara was great too, not too creamy for people that is not a huge fan of creamy pasta, but it's a tad pricier than the rest of the pasta on the menu.

Fu Jian Mian Smile Aug 31, 2013

This plate of Fu Jian Mian is not your typical white fried hokkien mee. This Fu Jian Mian at $4, is stirred fried yellow noodles (flat kind) with dark sauce, pork slices, vegetable, fish cake and prawns. Since I was craving for prawns, I specially ordered one with only vegetables and prawns. The dark sauce was slightly salty, but that’s usually the case when it comes to the gravy for noodles. Prawns were not overcooked and it has already been peeled for you.

Vegetarian! Smile Aug 31, 2013

I ordered bee hoon with zai er, potato wedges, fried egg for $2.30. The zai er was crispy, nice and was in small square pieces, definitely one of the better zai er among the vegetarian stores (as most stores zai er appear in large rectangle shape and it’s not crispy as they store them in containers). The potato wedges was pretty normal. Beside bee hoon they also do offer yam rice, rice, fried maggie noodles. Do give their curry a go too, it's not too bad for a vegetarian stall.
