Taro Milk Tea Cry Jul 10, 2012
Categories : Taiwanese | Bubble Tea/ Tea

Walked by Gong Cha at Square 2 and noticed that they have introduced a new flavour on their menu, Taro Milk Tea.
The Taro Milk Tea however was a bit too sweet for me even though I only asked for 50% sugar level. The Taro Milk Tea also lacked both the yam and tea flavours. The drink does not come with pearls, so you need to fork out extra for them. Overall I think the drink is not worth getting.

Xiao Xuan Feng  Cry Jul 08, 2012

Categories : Shanghainese | Café | Kids-Friendly

I was at Tiong Bahru Plaza for a movie and decided to try Xiao Xuan Feng. Xiao Xuan Feng has 2 outlets. One at Tiong Bahru Plaza while the other at Hougang Mall. Their menu is quite extensive ranging from hot cooked food, dim sum and noodles. I tried their La Mian since it was made freshly at the spot.

The Stewed Beef La Mian had a generous serving of beef chunks and beef balls. The soup was tasty and the noodles had the smooth, silky and springy texture.

The Fried Ribs La Mian was bland but the noodles itself was good. The fried ribs were not crispy at all and oily.

The Shanghai Pork Dumplings were average. I felt that skin was too thick.

Bak Kut Teh Cry Jun 23, 2012
Categories : Singaporean Chinese

Many good comments have been heard about the Bak Kut Teh at Ya Hua. The Bak Kut Teh was milder in flavor. The meat was tender and it came off the bone easily. However I prefer Bak Kut Teh that is more peppery. I also find the pig livers were sliced too thick. They were quite raw and soft in the middle. Most disappointing was the Youtiao. They were not crispy at all. They were mass prepared and left sitting on the service table.

Roti Prata Cry Jun 23, 2012
Categories : Indian | Halal

You can easily spot this place from its big yellow sign board stating that it is the best crispy prata recommended by The New Paper.

I ordered both the plain crispy prata and egg prata to try. Indeed the plain prata was crispy. However I did not enjoy it. If I am wrong it had a margarine taste which I do not like. The plain prata was also cold and hard. On the other hand, I enjoyed the egg prata as it was fresh, hot and fluffy.

disappointment Cry Jun 21, 2012
Categories : Pasta | Halal

Intended to introduce my friend to the new parchment pasta but it was a disappointment. It seemed like the parchment pasta was over baked and the pasta was dry with very little sauce. Some burnt marks could be seen on the parchment paper suggesting that it was over baked.

Fortunately the spicy chicken pomodoro and drumlets turned out fine. However it was not hot. Hopefully their standard can be more consistent in my next visit.
