The cool evening breeze blows across the outdoor seating area of Tanuki Raw as we watched the live band settle into their stage for their set.

A jazzy soothing voice from the lady and the perfect unplugged accompaniment on guitar. They worked well together and stirred up my appetite for dinner.

Skipping all the raw stuff and going straight for the rolls past the happy hour period.

The all time familiar California ($8)
Avocado, crabstick, cucumber and tobiko roe drizzled with yuzu mayo.

And definitely a salmon choice with Rockstar ($10)
Seared salmon draped over a mozzarella stick and covered with spicy salmon roe sauce.

Going for gold with The Love Rocket ($9)
This sushi was fried and deliciously so, with fried oyster coming to you with a sprinkle of ground fish, sesame seeds,
and sugar.

Ten different types of rolls and I've picked just three to try. These rolls were good for neat bites and very filling for two.

Another seven more to try. For the next night out at Tanuki!

whatever the weather
hokkien mee

whether you like it or not!

I think that pretty much is my love story for this plate of hokkien mee.

I've never had a bad plate of this. The noodles are always fried al dente with enough bite yet be able to lock in the juices from that umami gravy that it's simmered in and stir fried on demand. The turnover for the noodles are high, promising a fresh plate of hokkien mee every time. The prawns are fresh and squid rings ample.

The chilli? They have peanuts in that and that's really the special part about that. perfect complement to the noodles.

$3. Comfort food.

why yes, i'm at bedok 85 and not eating those minced meatball noodles.

the queue was just horrendous. not that you can see it.

just look at the orders written down, pages and pages. and i had to wait 45 minutes for my order, if i placed it.

just around the corner, this massive business caught my attention with their efficient services.

dishing out plates and plates and meeting their orders with at least 6 people on stir fry duty and another 6 more taking orders.

let's indulge a little shall we.

this was delightfully sinful. a black sweet soysauce stir fried plate of flat rice noodles and a smattering of lard within. The noodles were given that umami breath of the wok. Fried with barely cooked beansprouts, i loved the fishcake, eggs and of course, bloody cockles that came in my $3 plate of friend kway teow.

best dinner choice after a crazy day out in bedok reservoir and no, i didn't miss the bcm at all. smile

En dining Smile Sep 23, 2013

We came here simply to unwind from the madness they call work. It's like fighting a war everyday and all we needed was to kickback chillax.

unagi fried rice. This was a delicious fried rice. the grains of japanese rice were fat and well fried with the taste of the wok and teriyaki sauce. The unagi pieces were a good portion, well spread out through the rice. $11.90

and we decided on a buta kimchi soup. didn't expect it to come in a generous portion. $13.90

It was a comfort food dinner success. smile

Chocoholics anonymous Smile Sep 03, 2013

I needed some pick-me-up on a hazardous Mmonday night. Of course i picked TCC for my chocolate respite. smile There's always max brenners but my old man friend needed his shot of coffee. So we settled on tcc at citylink mall. it was 8pm on a monday night and it was pretty quiet. I asked for a chocolate recommendation and ended up with this.

Chocolate of Wealth.

Thick chocolate shake with chocolate drizzles complete with whipped cream and crunchy choco balls. It was every bit my kryptonite... so much for weight watching. But this was exactly the chocolate therapy I needed. smile
