First time visiting the restaurant since my bestie kept complimenting it, so we decided to lunch there on a weekend afternoon. As usual, Jurong Point was brimmed with people, but luckily the restaurant wasn't filled up yet (but soon after we settled down the place started to get busy)

We had:

1) Chicken Teppanyaki Set($9.90 which comes with a plate of teppanyaki bean sprouts, +$3.50 for the rice set which includes a miso soup, rice and fruits)
2) Chawamushi ($3.90, promotional price when you order a main teppanyaki dish)
3) Salmon Okonomiyaki ($11.90, big enough to fill 3 pax. Top with many slices of salmon meat!)

Overall, I enjoyed the food serve here. Portion is decent and enough to fill a big eater (like me) up. The chawamushi took quite a while to serve as they are freshly made after ordering. Instead of boring bowl for the chawanmushi, they creatively uses onion as the bowl!

Definitely going back if I happen to be around the area.

Xin Cuisine's Mooncake Smile Aug 21, 2013

Categories : Cantonese/Hong Kong | Hotel | Dim Sum

Was invited to the moon cakes food tasting by OpenRice at Xin Cuisine, Holiday Inn Atrium. A great hospitality to the guests from Holiday Inn as not only they provided the star of the night - moon cakes for the guests to try, there's also some really good bite size food available.

Tried their signature roast duck, scallops, chicken roll and roasted pork. My favorite is definitely the roast duck as the meat is roast perfectly and the meat is so tender and soft. High possibility that I will be back for the sake of this roast duck dish. The roasted pork belly is done nicely too. Though I am not a fan of that but still, I think it is one of the best I had tried.

One of the highlights of this food tasting is definitely the wines! We got the privileged to sample some really good red and white wine together with the moon cakes. I would say that my favorite is the Riondo Prosecco with its fruity and bubbly texture, pairing it nicely together with either the snow skin moon cakes or traditional moon cakes.
The boxes are so attractive!

Honestly this is the first time I tried the moon cakes from Xin Cuisine and it was good! Even better than the one I used to get from some other hotel. I love their custard egg yolk traditional moon cake. It is sweet and not too thick thus you don't feel very jelat after that. As for the snow skin moon cake, my favorite are the black sesame paste with peanut and chocolate and also the peranakan durian.

Overall a enjoyable night with good desserts and wine and company!

Starbucks Smile Jul 11, 2013

My favorite ice blended frappe among all other beverages sold in Starbucks, the Green Tea Ice Blended Frappe. I like the richness of Matcha (green tea) flavor in it which makes the whole drink very thick with the flavor. Blended with ice cubes and milk (Full cream milk the best!), the greenish cup of goodness is so hard to resist. This drink is suitable during hot and humid weather, not too sweet and definitely will cool you down without feeling more thirsty!

Yami is yummeh! Smile Jul 05, 2013

Yami Yogurt was introduced to me by a close friend of mine and since then, I got hooked to their delicious soft yogurt which taste like ice cream but is much more healthier than that. My favorite is their peach flavor, never fails to have that whenever I am craving for it. The peach flavor is not powering to cover the nature taste of the yogurt, though you can still taste the refreshing peachy flavor every spoonful.

There are also numerous toppings of the yogurt for you to choose from, from dried nuts to fresh fruits. My favorite toppings is either the almonds nuts of mixed nuts. The toppings are surprisingly fresh too! No signs of "air" in them cos they are still as crunchy. Well, adding on an extra crunch to the soft yogurt is just so... attractive.

Something special about The Ascot - it is not just a place to have your drinks and chill but also a good place for you to have your dinner too! Tried their a bunch of bangles which is served with bubbles and squeak. The sausages tasted good and I like their bubbles and squeak too.

Do order their dessert too! I'll recommend their bread pudding because it is definitely one of the best I have tried. Sweetness is just nice and the bread used is special too.

Lastly, have a bottle of their specially imported apple cider to end your day.
