Really addictive - 7" Pizzas!  Smile Sep 20, 2012

The first time I came across 7" Pizzas was at a food fair at Suntec Convention Hall this year, where everyone was carrying little cute packaging of pizzas walking around. It was one of the most popular stalls there and I could not resist having one to myself! It left me a deep impression as the ingredients on top of these thin crust pizzas were really fresh and generous.

Each pizza costs $3.90, standard. There are quite a few flavours to choose from, Pepperoni, Hawaiian, Vegetarian, and more.

To my surprise, 7" Pizza is located in NTU too! smile I like its thin crust, very crunchy but not over-cooked. It may be a little burnt at the sides but just peel it off. I can eat this for all three meals, it's really very nice. I can dare say it's even nicer than Pizza Hut or Domino pizzas.
Really, really yummy!

Really, really yummy!

I'm really addicted to this pizzas now and just looking at the photos just make me crave for it more. You should try it out if you're here. There's also a takeaway option! After ordering, you have to wait for 5 minutes because it is baked on the spot, ensuring extreme freshness!

I was sharing this with my friends and they all loved it. Highly recommend this if you are dropping by Canteen 1 in NTU smile

Yummy dumplings in school!  Smile Sep 10, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Food Court | Noodles

Food Connection is located at North Spine of NTU. It is indeed a blessing to have such yummy food at very affordable prices in school! $3 for 6 pieces of dumplings. This serving is just perfect if you're feeling neutral but just want to eat *in case* you get hungry later. Surely you have been in one of those situations!

I like my dumplings with a dash of vinegar. I think without the vinegar, it might tastes a little bland for people who are used to strong tastes. These dumplings are very fresh and the taste is excellent. The skin's thickness is also just right. The plus point is that Food Connection is nearer to all the schools which make it a convenient place for lunch.

If you have more time to spare in NTU and craving for dumplings, you should go to Canteen 1 for their dumplings ($3.50 for 10 dumplings):

Dessert with Crepes! :)  Smile Aug 21, 2012
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : European | Restaurant | Pasta

Out of the Pan is a great place to have desserts, especially its sweet & savoury crepes. Located right in the middle of basement 1 of Raffles City, it is impossible to miss it! After a day of shopping or walking around City Hall/ Raffles Place area, you can drop by Out of the Pan for either an afternoon high tea moment or an after-meal dessert. Highly recommend the crepes, which are also what they are famous for. My friends and I prefer sweet crepes, so we ordered one Old Style Rum & Raisin Sweet Crepe and also Tiramisu Sweet Crepe.

The Food
The crepes were absolutely lovely! I haven't eaten many crepes to determine how good they are, but I will say that they are very satisfying (not relatively to any other crepes). Both the Old Style Rum & Raisin Sweet Crepe and Tiramisu Sweet Crepe have their different merits.

The Rum & Raisin Crepe has the extra twang of rum taste which makes it really interesting without being overpowering, and the crepe is really fluffy and soft! It makes you feel like you are biting into bits of sweet clouds. The sweetness of the crepe is just right. However if you're not a fan of sweet food, you might find that it is too sweet. The funny part is that it is quite difficult to cut because it is kinda soft and shapeless, so it might not be very glam eating this. But it's really so damn good, you'll want more! smile

The Tiramisu Crepe gives the feeling of "good ol' yummy desserts". It is just the way you'll expect to be, wonderfully blissful. It is firmer than the Rum & Raisin Crepe and easier to cut, too. I like both crepes! smile

The Service
Wonderful, polite, prompt, full of initiative, attentive! They are really a wonderful crew that attended to our needs from the moment we reach until we left.

The Ambience
Out of the Pan is quite cozy despite being located right in the middle of Raffles City basement 1! smile Serving a crowd of mostly families/couples, the place is bustling with soft/mid-tone conversations. I like it because you don't feel that it's too quiet or noisy to have a conversation.

Price
$14 for a sweet crepe. I think there was a 1-for-1 offer there so it was technically $7 each. I think it's quite steep for my usual spending, but if you're in that area and itching for desserts, most of them are priced around this range. The portion was shared amongst 4 of us! smile

Overall
Loved this place and definitely recommend you to try this place. (Heh you probably walk past this place multiple times but don't realize it!)

Blisshouse has always been a familiar name for extravagant event hosting, known for its gorgeous backdrops and white trellis interior. I've always been curious about what cuisine they serve in this gorgeous house, so when I saw Blisshouse listed on The Entertainer, I was thrilled to try their menu out at 2-for-1 prices.

You can check out their full menu here... not that they only serves pasta, but occasionally when that craving hits, I just got to have it. The best part? I totally don't regret it. Either I was really hungry, or their Mushroom Alfredo Tagliatelle (SGD20) has got to be among the best I've had. I've no idea how they made it, but the proportion of everything was just perfect with the al dente pasta. The Soft Shell Crab Arrabiata Linguine (SGD23.4) on the other hand, was also savoury, tangy and really appetizing... the soft shell crab requires some effort to unravel, but in fact it was quite fresh so it slips out of its shell easily. All in all, at least these two dishes were quite stellar. I wished I had greater appetite to enjoy its other mains and desserts but that'll be left for next time.

Lovely Italian experience Smile Nov 05, 2014
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Italian | Restaurant | Desserts and Cakes | Pasta | Pizza

Fantastic food, elegance and a memorable experience beckon on the banks of Singapore River at Ricciotti Pizza Pasta Grill Riverwalk. To celebrate their 10th anniversary, this Italian restaurant has emerged with a sparkling new and elegant refurbishment and a thoughtfully curated menu. It's always useful to have a restaurant in mind that can impress for romantic dates, important family dinners and special occasions.

Staying true to their roots, Ricciotti Pizza Pasta Grill Riverwalk maintains Italian elements in every aspect of the restaurant. Imaginative paintings hand-drawn by Italian designer artist Keziat Terracciano are prominently hung around. There are also multiple specialized in-house chefs for various sections of the menu.

Start with an antipasta dish for the true Italian experience: Cioppino Soup ($25). Savoury and extremely generous with mussels and prawns, the brand manager, Walter Visioli, shared with us that this dish is a very rustic, homemade dish that women would cook for their husbands in the olden days. This is a powerfully seafood-infused stew with inklings of garlic paired with buttery crostini to dip.

Carpaccio di polpo ($18) is a picturesque of summer with citrus flavours and well-marinated octopus. Among all the antipasti, this is my favourite because of the very chewy, thinly-sliced octopus slices and the dimensions of tastes that rupture together. I wished the portions could be bigger though! It's the glutton talking again...

My first impression of the Eggplant parmigiana ($15) was that its well-execution... primarily because it actually made my mortal enemy eggplants taste appetizing! Baked with a satisfying layer of tomato sauce and cheese to create a lasagna composition, the texture of the eggplants at the bottom remains juicy and allows for "clean bites" rather than its usual slimy texture.

Nizzarda salad ($19) integrated pan-seared, fresh tuna loin surrounded with a complimentary nest of mesclun, green beans, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, anchovies, and very bouncy and soft-boiled quail eggs. Those eggs are the hot favourite of the table with sherry dressing.

Pollo alla milanese ($22) is a breaded chicken dish with very finely scattered bread crumbs on the surface, plated on potatoes, with tomato salad on the side. While the breaded chicken was pretty decent, the potatoes were the ones who took me by surprise - they retained moisture, oozed with parsley fragrance, slightly crispy edges... loved it!

This ear-shaped pasta orrecchiette broccoli e acciughe ($20) is one of those classic rustic Italian pasta dishes with a whiffs of anchovies, juicy cherry tomatoes and crunchy broccoli that got everyone raving!

How would an Italian meal be complete without some comforting risotto?! Since Ricciotti has seafood as their specialty, Risotto al frutti di mare would be the perfect marriage of these two elements. This turns out to be really creamy and consistent in terms of evenness of flavours and broth mixture with rather firmly dense rice grains. Anyone who loves seafood definitely shouldn't miss out on this.

Grilled seabass ($28) is not only an oceanic favourite, it is also my top pick out of all the main courses! The fleshy seabass has a tender yet firm bite. Its simple garnishing of tomato concasse capers allows the seabass to retain its original fresh taste. I love it! Not to mention, the wonderfully done potatoes appeared again in this dish.

Every chef at Ricciotti Pizza Pasta Grill Riverwalk has a specialization. For pizza lovers, Chef Akram will be the expert to satisfy your tastebuds!

We tried two flavours of pizzas: the Al tartufo pizza (top) and Porcini e scarmoza pizza (bottom)! The Al tartufo pizza referred to a beautiful amalgamation of full-bodied signature black truffle fragrance, earthy mushrooms, and quail eggs, while the Porcini e scarmoza pizza is lighter in taste, with a milkier cheese base.

Finally the most delightful part of the meal - desserts! The Nutella sweet pizza was swept clean off the plate as quickly as the cameras were done with them. An ingenious use of the familiar chocolate hazelnuts spread doubled with a second helping of crushed hazelnuts, there is no reason not to love this.

Except that the Tiramisu ($10) took my heart away and left me drowned in its excellently moist, chocolate mousse, mascarpone cream with crisp flakes, with a slight whiff of indulgent rum that doesn't overpower the overall taste. If you can only choose one dessert... this is it!

The Panna cotta ($8) comes a close second with a distinctive vanilla flavoured pudding that has maintained a wonderful texture - very wobbly, yet held together nicely - even though we were shifting the plate around quite a lot to take photos! Paired with the seasonal fruit compote - tasted like a combination of a lot of sweet & sour berries - the panna cotta seemed to drown a little but I love the panna cotta in itself.

Plenty of juice that stayed undiluted all night. I'm not sure how. It just happened.
