Award-winning bread from Taiwan! Smile Sep 21, 2022
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Taiwanese | Bakery

Walking through the 🍞 shaped door (kinda looks like cheese though) made me feel like a kid in a candy shop 😂 The interior is super spacious and has all sorts of bread galore!

I was quite amazed by the wide variety of unique bakes inspired by local Asian culture, but we finally settled on their best-seller back in Taiwan - a loaf of red wine longan bread which boasts a world champion award from Paris

This is probably the most expensive bread that I’ve ever bought (you can probably get 3-4 meals at the hawker centre), but the portion and quality definitely justifies the hefty price tag. The texture itself was quite firm and chewy, but it was the quirky taste of sweet longan mixed with astringent red wine that ultimately won me over.

Tip: If you can’t finish the bread within 2-3 days, just put the remaining slices in the freezer and you can store them for up to 2 weeks!

Freshly baked bread Smile Sep 14, 2022

One of their many outlets is super near my office, so I popped by for a takeaway lunch. They have all sorts of sweet pastries, savoury buns, and even a pizzeria right beside. While I was trying to make up my mind, I could see the baker hard at work preparing fresh bread behind the counter.

My favourite was definitely the purple yam bun (yay I grabbed the last one). It had a chewy mochi texture in the middle and still tasted delicious the next day when I had it for breakfast!

This was one of the first cafes that I visited when I first arrived in Singapore a month ago. I was in the buzzing Orchard area searching for a quiet place to work and randomly came across a nearby branch of @alchemist.sg on Google Maps

Tucked away on the rooftop garden of @shopdesignorchard where you can watch the world go by, the botanical cafe offers a limited menu of coffee and pastries. There were quite a lot of people popping in and out when I came on a weekday afternoon, but the minimalist space did not feel packed with each table placed quite far apart. In terms of work-friendliness, there is no limited dining time and the easy-going employees even proactively poured me a cup of water every now and then. The only snag was that there was no free Wi-Fi in the cafe or nearby

I got myself a cup of iced chocolate, the only non-caffeine drink on the menu, and enjoyed the milky sweetness that covered the natural cocoa bitterness that I dread.

Taco Tuesdays and Happy Hour! Smile Aug 16, 2022
Share on TwitterShare on Facebook
Categories : Mexican | Restaurant | Brunch

As I’m still quite new to the local Singaporean food scene, @papistacossg was recommended by a friend’s friend. Found out online that they just opened a new branch in Tanjong Pagar this May (btw TP is now my new fave neighbourhood with cute cafes and dessert places, plus A LOT of Korean BBQ restaurants for some reason)
Anyways, we came coincidentally for Taco Tuesday (3 tacos for the price of 2) and even managed to catch the last few minutes of happy hour (before 7pm) YAY cuz drinking in SG is damn expensive y’all. A word of advice - it’s probably best to make a reservation online as we had to sit outside (luckily it wasn’t too hot)

[Al Pastor Taco]
We loved the vibrant taste of the juicy pineapple chunks, which added some zing to the intense flavours of the Mexican sauces and marinated pork. Also bonus points for how this wasn’t spicy at all!

[Beef Quesadilla]
Compared to the tacos, I preferred this more as it had a milder seasoning of verde salsa, plus the grilled beef was ultra tender!
