Bak Ku Teh Smile Jan 22, 2012

Categories : Singaporean Chinese | Restaurant | Bak Kut Teh

This is by far the best Bak Ku Teh I had in Singapore so far. It is always crowded during meal times so to avoid the crowd better be there slightly earlier. The soup base is the white kind and cooked with lots of pepper. One can definitely feel that the stomach is warm after eating. A small bowl of bak ku teh comes with 3 pork ribs and there is unlimited refill to the soup. The pork rib is soft and tender. The soup is very addictive and I can easily refill three to four times. Apart from the bak ku teh, there are other nice side dishes that can be ordered. We ordered you tiao and large intestines to go with it. The intestine is well cooked because if not prepared well there will be a weird stench. The you tiao is pretty crispy too. Go give it a try if you haven’t done so.

Po Lo Bun Smile Jul 11, 2011

Po lo bun is one of my favourite bread. It has crispy bread crumps on the surface and beneath is a very soft and fresh bread. The char siew filling is sweet and not fatty so it does not make one feel sick of eating it. The sweetness of the char siew makes them very addictive. The char siew blends in very nicely with the bread and the taste is excellent.

Brunch  Smile Jul 09, 2011

This is definitely a place to come, and to come again. A nice cozy little restaurant located in Mandarin Gallery, with a nice relaxing ambiance. The menu was written on the board, with iPad showing the photos of the food. All the food certainly looks good and I had such a tough time deciding.

I ordered the california breakfast, which was scrambled egg with tofu, peppers, mushroom and herbs, on ciabatta. The egg was light and fluffy, and has the nice herb taste. Everything is mixed nicely and complements each other.

I will definitely come back again for the food and place.

Classic cheese burger Smile Jun 26, 2011

This burger has won over my taste buds and I think I will be coming back here soon.

I have tried the cheeseburger, which is simply a smaller version of the classic cheese burger. The classic burger has a thicker beef patty, which is kept juicy and tender and everything nice! It comes with a slice of tomato, onion and lettuce. It does not look very big, but it is fulfilling and so delicious.

You can add a side dish and drink for a complete meal, at $2 off the total bill.

Dim Sum Smile Jun 20, 2011

Categories : Chinese | Restaurant | Dim Sum | Seafood

I was here on a Sunday afternoon and the reception area was filled with people waiting for seats. I made a reservation in the morning but the person claimed that I did not, because it was not in the book. Realizing that she might have forgotten to write it down, she told us to wait a while and gave us a table shortly after.

The dim sum here is sweet, good and fresh, with lots of prawns. The pricing is affordable too. Some of my favorites are the chives crystal dumplings and the prawn dumpling with scallop. They are very sweet and juicy and the skin is thin and chewy. The presentation is not very attractive, but the food definitely is.
