Tau Sa Piah  Smile Nov 24, 2011
Categories : Singaporean | Brunch

It is so hard to get to try the balestier Tau Sa Piah as there is hardly any car park along the road , and the Q is always very long. I happened to see this shop while I was shopping around and got it for my friend to try. She had try the one at balestier before and find this is qutie similar. I am not sure if this came from the same shop as there is a few stalls along the road. But I do know that I will stop eating others Tau Sa Piah after I have tried this version. It is different from those which I have eaten from other bakeries. The crust is thin and crispy. Filling is generous..Yum!

ice cream float Smile Nov 23, 2011

Yahoo just came out with an article showing all the childhood items for Singaporean who are borned in the 80s and 90s. And root beer float was one of the items that I really missed. It never occur to me that McDonald does sell floats. In fact, I was thinking to get a medium coke and the ice cream cone, so that I can mix to get my float. Thank god, this branch does sell coke float! To have this on a hot sunny day was a blessing.. Of course, it would be better to have root beer float if I was given a choice. tongue

Black pepper Chicken pie OK Nov 23, 2011

Categories : Bakery

This used to be one of my favourite pie which I have eaten years ago at their suntec branch. They even opened another branch at Parkway but it did not sustain for long before it closed down. Suntec branch was also closed now soon after that. Finally got to see it at Vivo City while I was shopping around. Bought the black pepper and shepherd's pie this time. Was rather disappointed as the standard seemed to have dropped. The fillings were dried but the favour is still the same. Still can find chunks of chicken meat in the pie, which is very filling. The pie is best comsumed when it's hot.

Best Chendol eaten Smile Nov 23, 2011

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Curries | Kids-Friendly

I have driven pass this stretch of road for a few times but never spotted this shop. And thanks to my mother in law for introducing this shop to us. As the name implied, the shop serves nyonya food and the serving was really fast. Dishes were served minutes after we made the order. Out of the 4 items that we ordered, I like the fish head curry and the chendol. The flavours of the curry is very balanced. It is sweet and not as tangy as other fish head curries.

The last item that was served was Chendol. It left me with a very strong impresssion as this is so far the best Chendol I have eaten. The chendol is very refreshing and the quality ingredients do set it apart from the other chendols around. In fact, the ice is coarse , which I like it that way. This allow the ice to melt slowly in your mouth , and dilute the rich taste of the chendol, so I do not feel so jialat after eating. Definitely a must try item.

Ang Gu Kueh Smile Nov 23, 2011
Categories : Singaporean Chinese

The traditional Ang Gu Kueh comes in red, which symoblise auspicious for the chinese. Other flavours like yam and coconut were added to the family of Ang Gu Kueh, but the one that I like best is still the red Ang Gu Kueh. The texture of the Kueh is tender and thin, fillings are very generously wrapped in the kueh. I love their peanut flavour too as it does not fall off easier when bite, you can even taste the coarse sugar that they blend into the grounded peanut.
