Carousel is a popular Halal buffet in Singapore. It is one of the few Halal buffets in Singapore. Moreover, it is also widely raved about for its variety and quality. As such, I was excited to try it out. I had the High Tea Buffet at $33++ on a weekday.

The Seafood Selection consists of prawns, mussels and some scallops. Being a Seafood Lover, I was pleased. Even though it was High Tea, they do offer some seafood. The prawns were succulent and yummy! I had almost 5-8 of them. The mussels are really fresh too. Mussels and prawns are a must have!

They have an Indian Station where you can make your own wraps. What caught my eye was the kebab roasting. The heat is a bit too overwhelming though. Makes it hard to stay there for long to make my wrap. But really, you must try making your own wrap. Take a slice of wrap, put some orange sauce, add chicken and whatever ingredients you want and pop it in your mouth. Really good!

And yes, they have fondue! Not one, but 2! They even have a strawberry fondue which is not very common. And look, they have a wide range of dips and fruits that can go with it. The strawberry fondue is not too bad, taste like the pocky strawberry. Goes well with biscuits. I prefer chocolate with marshmallows and fruits.

I missed a photo of the Warm chocolate cake and Bread pudding section. But well, these 2 are a must try! I have a photo of my own chocolate cake though! It looks really good right? Best eaten when just after they refill the tray, when the chocolate is sill molten and flowy. Not too sweet and totally awesome! You can add two scoops of vanilla ice-cream. Yes, they have ice-cream counter too!

Overall, I feel that it's a really good Halal high tea buffet with wide variety of choices. For $33++, it's quite reasonable. Though I would think that their main courses and cooked food could have more surprises and better taste.

It's Monday! Hopefully your weekend was great [: Blue Monday, go away!

Well, I have always loved eating fish head steamboat but it is not easy to find an affordable and nice one out there. A friend of mine recommended me to this shop and I was not disappointed with its standard!

Red Grouper Steamboat. Okay, the main thing you definitely have to order here is the fish head steamboat. The soup is really good and rich, filled with all my favourite ingredients such as fried yam, cabbage, etc. Of course, they have other kinds of fish too if you do not like red grouper fish!

Sweet and sour century egg $6. Well well! Recently, I got into a Century-Egg-Craze which means I have this weird compulsion to order any century egg dishes. This is something different from what you see outside! The century egg is fried so that it has this crispy exterior. Eaten together with the appetizing sweet and sour sauce, it can really tickle your appetite open!

Mongolian Tofu $18. This is their recommended dish. I must say that it is pretty unique. It resembles the Yam Ring that we see normally, with the yam ring replaced by tofu to form tofu ring instead.

Overall, I feel that this is a good and affordable place for big group of family or friends. The standard of the food is definitely above those you see in the average coffee shops. However, take note that the shop is not that big so if you can, try to make reservations before that!

For full review and photos, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2012/12/flock-cafe-tiong-bahru.html

Flock cafe is in the midst of Tiong Bahru. They serve up All-Day Breakfasts, salads and sandwiches. As they are still pretty new, I would recommend that you head over soon before the crowd gets there! I like the minimalist decor of the cafe although it would not fit the cosy criteria.

French Toast $8.9. My first reaction to ordering French Toast was: "What?! I can do it myself!" Yes, I am also a believer of eating what I can't do up at home. I was pleasantly surprised when it came! It was really nice and even with all the strawberries and bananas, it wasn't too sweet at all. Please try this when you are there [:

I was there for a short tea break and only managed to try these items! But, I would definitely be back again for more. Most importantly, I feel that they serve up food and coffee at pretty reasonable prices!

For full review and photos, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2013/03/poulet-bugis-thumbsforfood.html

We visited the branch at Bugis+ to try out other dishes that Poulet offers. Do read on for our individual dish review!

This time, we tried the Poulet de Cranberry (Half: $17.80; Whole: $30.80) instead of the original-flavored one. The difference is the sauce. Poulet de Cranberry is a twist of cranberry sauce and a dash of double mustard. The cranberry sauce gives the dish an uplifting and appetizing taste to it while the mustard provides a balance to that sour tinge of the cranberry sauce. I would say the sauces do go well with the chicken.

My personal preference is the Original-flavored roti. But, my friend prefers this sauce. Conclusion is that it really depends on personal preference! So, have a try of both sauces to see which one is more pleasing to your taste buds.

Portion of dishes are not too big, so do order your own mains if you're hungry!

The food is overall affordable and tasty. Portions are on the small side alike other French Cuisine.

For full review and photos, please visit http://thumbsforfood.blogspot.sg/2013/04/tatsuya-goodwood-park-hotel.html

Tatsuya is said to be one of the best Japanese restaurants in Singapore. Being a Japanese food lover, I was dying to try out Tatsuya. Well, for starters, we went for the lunch sets on a weekend. Would love to try their Omakase in near future!

Do make reservations in advance before you visit Tatsuya because they are usually fully booked.

We tried 4 different kinds of bentos and we got to say it was good!

Overall, we enjoyed dining at Tatsuya. The service was good and even though we dined at the al fresco area, it was not too warm. For the price, the bentos were definitely worth it! Do give it a try if you're a Japanese food lover.
