Coffee at the best temperature! Smile Oct 17, 2012

With the recent craze in cafes around the city, it is really hard to find a nice and peaceful cafe where you can chill with a cup of coffee and slice of cake. 93 degrees C is a place to go if you are looking for such a deal. It is located within walking distance to Harbourfront train station and just at the foot of Mount Faber Hill.

If you enjoy drinking black coffee, have a try at their Siphon Coffee! It is not something that is available in every cafe.

What can be better than being in the company of a cup of freshly brewed coffee and your favourite book on a Sunday afternoon? tongue

I was there on a Sunday, and there was not much of a crowd.

The sashimi here is pretty good. I really like the swordfish and the salmon sashimi. For sashimi lovers, the price of the buffet is really worth it. Another highlight of the dinner was of course, the Ebi Mentai Mayo. Each person will receive one and it was definitely yummy.

The variety is not bad as well.

I will definitely be here again as I am a hardcore sashimi lover!

When we arrived there at 6.45p.m, the seats indoors were almost filled. It is quite a small restaurant with limited seating capacity of about less than 50 seats both indoors and outdoors, thus we were lucky to have a table for 2. So, be sure to make reservations if you're going there during meal times to avoid having to wait for a long time.

We had a hard time finishing our main courses due to the big portion! We wanted to try their Tiramisu for dessert, but was too full to do so. The business is run by a family and thus, dining there really feels very homely.

Overall, I feel that Vintage Delicafe serves unpretentious homely comfort food. I will come back to try their other dishes such as their grilled food and their Aglio Olio. When I left, the friendly staff asked me for some feedback, and I said that it was great portions and homely food. He quipped that it is indeed that they serve in huge portions and would be best that I go with a hungry stomach.

For affordable comfort food, I think Vintage Delicafe is worth your try! But, don't forget to make reservations!

Swedish Meatballs! Smile Oct 11, 2012

Well, most of us may be very familiar with the meatballs at Ikea and love them. But, there are even better meatballs at Fika!

The meatballs are definitely more expensive sad but it is worth a try! Fika is a cosy cafe near Bugis and is a good place for friends to hang out and eat the yummy meatballs!

The location is quite convenient; just a 5 minutes stroll from Telok Ayer station and Tanjong Pagar station. There are actually quite a few restaurants that are worth trying around the area as well! When we reached at around 1 plus on a Sunday afternoon, there was a short queue (around 5 tables) so be prepared to wait a little while if you are planning on checking out the cafe anytime soon!

I must admit that I was attracted by the cool vibe that the cafe gave off! I am sure you can see from the pictures above. Even though the name of the cafe doesn't sound like it, it is really quite a nice place to hang out with friends or family on a weekend morning/afternoon.
Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon $6.50. To be honest, we were quite surprised when this was served to us. The portion was really small but come to think of it, the price is quite a good reflection of the portion. You definitely will not be full from eating this but well, a smaller portion of this means more variety of other items right? [:

I love the texture of the scrambled eggs! But, the taste of it was quite normal. Maybe you can add a croissant or something else to go along with this? They have several other scrambled eggs selections (avocado, parma ham, ham & cheese).
Pineapple upside down (something along this line) $5. For me, this was the better dessert. I am not a fan of pineapple but somehow this managed to make me continue eating it after the first mouth. Definitely worth my calories!

Overall, I would say I was not impressed by the food and drinks that I tried. But to be fair, they have many other selections that I have not had the chance to try yet. I heard that they serve up good salads so if you are on a salad (healthy) diet, you can have a try and share with us about your experience!
