Da Paolo Smile Jul 30, 2013

What can I say after marrying my husband for 7 years he still brings me to nice fancy restaurants occasionally (but we tend to save and travel instead). This time he brought me to Da Paolo at Club street.
We ordered Pumpkin Soup with Dried Mushroom, Lobster Fettucine, Tagliolini with mushroon and ham cream.
I like the ambience of this place very quiet and romantic.
Pumpkin soup is light and has a hint of mushroom smell. Succulent lobster with sweet cherry tomato in their handmade pasta. Tagliolini is cooked al dente and flavourful. Bon Appetit !

Beef Noodle OK Jul 30, 2013

Wanted to have my lunch first before shopping thai ingredient to cook for dinner tonight at the Golden Mile. I ordered the Dry Beef Noodle. Well cooked soft and velvety rice noodles coated with savory and gooey braised beef sauces.
Fresh beef slice was succulent and cooked perfectly. Beef ball is bouncy and toothsome. Clear beef broth was packed with loads of beefy flavors. I squeeze some lime into the noodle and it tasted lighter.

2nd time this month to eat steamboat, but to me eating steamboat is never a boring thing cause it’s always eaten with a group of friends with many varieties of food. We went to Crystal Jade at Holland Village. Made a reservation 5 days ago as this place is always pack and rarely someone will get a seat walking in to the restaurant without making a reservation. Their steamboat buffet is really value for money, there’s a ONE TIME ONLY fresh live prawn given to every table. So don’t be shocked if you ate it all and expected another round.
All their ingredients are fresh and buffet also include assorted dim sums and desserts. My tip is to order the Xiao Long Bao first when you are seated as there’s a waiting time for it. The Xiao Long Bao is the star of the meal as it's well made by skillful chefs, careful when you bite as hot soup within will spurt out.

Taste wise for the rest of food there are no issues nor much to say when it comes to food that’s cooked DIY, only service issues because this place gets crazy crowded and the Xiao Long Bao can take up to half and hour of waiting time because it's so high in demand.

Having lunch with a group of people is really good cause you can order lots of food and we share. We went to Crystal Jade at Vivo City.
We ordered Salted Egg Prawn, Salt and Pepper Eggplant, Spinach, Black fungus fish slice,‘Yi Ping’ claypot.

Crispy big prawn coated with creamy salted egg sauce

Eggplant is crispy on the outside soft on the inside, very appetizing.

Spinach is light and tasty

Crunchy black fungus with fresh fish slice tasted great with the sauces.

As for Yi Ping clay pot, there is salty roasted pork, tender braised pork and lots of other toothsome ingredients cooked together in one pot. Smells amazing!

Cheers OK Jul 30, 2013

Categories : Peranakan / Nonya | Bars/Lounges | Pasta

Chilling out with my sisters after a heavy dinner. We ordered a few cocktail drinks as there was a promotion going on. Embarrassingly , one of the drinks named Bl*w Job has great coffee aromatic taste of bailey’s and topped with sweet whipped cream. We kept joking about taking turns sharing this drink due to its funny name. Lychee Martini with a hint of lychee smell is sweet, definitely a ladies drink. Red in colored Cosmopolitan looked like ribena but doesn't taste like one, it has light cranberry taste. All the drinks were well mixed.
