We had supper at 10 pm on a Tuesday night, which timing was neither here nor there, so we didn't think we'd have to wait very long. Wow were we wrong. Although the coffeeshop was only at a 80% capacity, our noodles still took about 40-excruciating minutes to arrive. They may have been swamped catching the damn fish.
We were prepared to hate this place, being "allergic" to waiting and all, but the Fishball Mee Pok ($3.50) was actually worth the wait. Dotted with deliciously sinful cubes of crunchy lard, and balanced with a shrimp-y chilli, the noodles were excellent. The highlight was the fish dumpling, swaddled in a thin chewy skin and stuffed with a garlicky flavourful mince. I would return just for this alone. The fishballs, was a little heavier than I'd expected, but sufficiently springy and smooth in texture. The fried beancurd, stuffed with fish paste, was also homemade like the rest of the stellar toppings.
Because their fish dumpling (her kiaow) is the absolute best, be sure to order an extra bowlful of soup with these. You get greater margins of return that way.

Mee Pok Dry ($6 big) - The big portion includes 3 large fishballs, 3 dumplings and 2 stuffed tau pok. All the ingredients are handmade fresh daily. You get to choose whether to add ketchup or chili sauce. I like all 3 ingredients especially the dumpling which was thinly wrapped with a unique flavoured pork and mushroom mixture. The tau pok was stuffed with an adequate amount of fish paste as well. Mee pok noodle was good as well without yellow noodle aftertaste.

Hand-made fishball taste nice as well. The fishball is more firm compared to those machine made and you are able to taste the sweetness of the fishball itself.

If you dont mind making your way for just fishball noodles, I suggest coming here earlier like 6 plus? Coming later at dinner time was a bad experience, we had to wait for more than 30mins and we finished the noodles in like 5 minutes? Definitely not worth the wait. *Shrugged*

I ordered Mee Pok Dry and Mixed Soup this evening. The noodles were really wayyy too salty! I like my Mee Pok with loads of chilli cause it adds flavours to it and I love salty food, but this was beyond my limit.

The soup was really bland too. Now I know, even with loads of pork lard, if its bad, its bad. This probably attributed to the fact that the tau pok and fishball were tasteless too!

Although I must say the texture of the noodles and fishball were fine.

Other Info. : The opening hours is not fixed! It depends on when the owner is ready... roughly around 7-7:15

I have my bowl of mee pok, which my girlfriend are having most of the times. Therefore, she'll try mee kia this time. Although the noodle is springy and the fish ball is excellent, you are expect to wait for at least half an hour or more. Conclusion: Very good food and value for money.

The noodle is cooked just nice, al-dente with good texture of springiness. For non-chilli, it is well coated with tomato sauce and pork lard creating a smooth texture when you bite into the noodle. The fish balls are smooth, bouncy and tasty, not like other fish ball that full of flour. The fish dumplings are actually the best that I ever tried so far. It has a resilient and juicy texture about it. Yum Yum!!

For the dry with chilli version, the chilli is not overly spicy but flavourful. The soup is clear yet very robust. It has a sweetness from the long boiling of fish bones, with a subtle hint of garlic. We always order extra fish ball soup, as we can't get enough of it.

Service is adequate. You order in front, get a number, get your drink and find a seat. If the place is packed, expect to wait between 45 minutes before you get your order. Well, consider it a good time to catch up with your friends. Lets just say, the fish ball noodle here is worth the 45 minutes wait. Cheers!!!

After queuing for more than 30 minutes, finally! Its opened and everyone is rushing in like typical singaporeans, rushing thru to get seats, pushing and pulling tables out while that's happening, the queue is already there when I look over. I was getting very excited as it seems really good.

The waiting time is pretty fast, I believe is a family-owned business. It was served with BIG BIG fishballs & the very first thing I tried was the soup, it was pretty sweet. The fishballs are BIG & chewy. The noodles are great, not soggy at all. Afterall, I realised that it's not very cheap though. For a bowl of fishball noodles, it cost roughly about $5.

Song Kee fish roll, fish dumpling and fish ball soup The standard soup was served with fish ball, fish dumpling, fish roll and Tao pok stuffed with fish paste. The soup base was light milky white in colour; a sign of long hour boiling from the emulsification of bone and other ingredients led to the stock. It may look ordinary but the taste was really spectacular. The medley of sweetness and tastefulness was simple divine. The fish dumpling or the fish “her giao”鱼饺was one of the best we even tried so far. The dumpling skin was malleable and thin, the stuffing taste of expensive dried sole and well seasoned meat, and we were pleasantly surprised by the unraveled intensity of the flavour from the fish dumpling and the freshness of the fish ball as well. Perhaps, the 100% handmade truly can make a big difference to those done by machine.
Overall, the fantastic soup and the fish stuff from the ensemble make every bit of the soup worth.

Tried both the Kway Teow and Mee Kia version and the noodles for both are springy and not soggy at all. Being the kind of person that usually request for more chilli or sauce to enhance the flavor, it was surprising to be how I am perfectly contented with just the original flavor.

The fishballs there are seriously huge and it is so fresh and nothing like those cheapo starch filled fishball!
