As it was a hot Saturday afternoon and we were directed to the 2nd Floor of Zam Zam via the narrow aisles of the stairs to enjoy its air-conditioned environment. There were no physical Menu that served right in front of our eyes but rather all the availabilities were well advertised by the side of the walls.

Environment was cooling with few units of Air Con mounted on the wall blowing constantly towards our direction.

To start off, we had our cups of Teh O Limau and Ice Limau while settling down and waiting for the mains to come.Personally, I find that the level of sweetness was abit over for me.

With a long history and recommendations by word of mouth, high expectations for Zam Zam are inevitable. I had ordered their Mutton Murtabak and indeed there were slight differences from the usual ones I had. The layer was crispy with minced mutton stuffed in between, mixed with chopped onions.

Personally, I find that the Murtabak I had was ordinary and nothing to rave about. They were of course not too chewy and not too doughy type, carrying the main characteristics of what should be from their cuisine.

For those who are more adventurous, they have Bambi (Deer) Murtabak and you may want to try them out.

The other must tried recommended by the menu was their Briyani. Basmati rice was soft and fluffy with not much of dryness. They are perfect on the go with the fish curry to accompanied with and I'm enjoying every grain of it.

Beside enjoying the long grains on the plate, I'm quite please with the big size chicken coated in orange red curry sauce. The meat was tender and fresh. If you are a small eater, it is best to share the dish.

Though I find that they may not be the best in Singapore, I still think that for such long history in the food heritage of Singapore, this is a Must Go for foodies. Or if you have some calories to spare, do try them out.

For service rendered, the servers were rather friendly and food were all served efficiently.

Don’t be surprised, I was having my supper again. Zam Zam was an eye-catching Mamak restaurant along North Bridge Road, consisting of two floors. I ordered only the basic Prata, an utterly crisp. Buttery fluffy inside, the dough was slightly burnt. Curry was heavy-flavoured, thickly mushy. I could not stop eating it, every bite was so delicious. Pipping hot when it served, all their Prata were freshly done on the spot. Teh-O in hot was fragrant, not overly sweet. $1.00 for mine, the price remained unchanged. Another great place for supper, best flipping Prata was sold here.

So since we are there already might as well order a plate of mee goreng.

It was really by far one of the worst plate of mee goreng ever eaten. It cost $4. Veggie tasted uncook, meat was tough, noodles were clammy and slightly oily.
We just couldn't finish it..

Trust me i wouldn't be going back again.

Located just opposite Sultan Mosque, there was a huge sign outside that says Zam Zam that is impossible to miss. We stepped into the eatery and went upstairs to be seated as it was warm and stuffy on the ground floor where all the kitchen action was taking place. No surprise it was crowded as this is one of the popular eateries around.

Being hungry, I couldn't resist ordering a glass of Teh Tarik ($1) to warm my stomach up for delicious food to come. It was frothy with a good layer of foam at the top. It tasted smooth with a nice aroma of tea without being too overpowering with the sweet condense milk.

I waited awhile for the Egg Prata ($2) to be served and it does look interesting, I must say. The egg yolk was concentrated on 1 side of the prata and the other side doesn't have a bit of egg. It does seem weird but well, I get to taste the original and with egg by paying for the price of 1 egg prata. No complaints as the portion was huge!

However, the Mee Goreng ($3.50) looks better in presentation as the colour looks appetizing. With the chilli paste and aroma mixed nicely with bits of egg around the noodles, it tasted delicious too. The Mee Goreng may seem good but could be a little oily for some. There goes a saying, “good things comes with a price!"

My friend had the Chicken Brayani ($4.50) which I felt that the standard has dropped over time. Previously, the chicken was bigger and meat of it was tender and moist. This round the chicken was tough and dry and the brayani rice wasn't that fragrant at all.

Despite some hits and misses, I felt that the service at Zam Zam can be further improved too with the wait staffs being more attentive to customers who wants to make orders and the time for food to be served can be cut down.
However, the price of the food is affordable and is one of the cosy and homely spot for late night supper!

I'm not a fan of Indian food, but my friend brought me here to try anyway. She told me their signature dish was Murtabak, so we tried that. The portion was really huge, with beef and chicken. The chicken one inside was very spicy, the outer layer was fried till very crispy but after few bites, I find that it is a bit too oily. Also must try their teh tarik. It is very nice, thick but not too sweet. Recommended for those who like greasy and heavy portions of food.

I find the Singapore Zam Zam's Briyani rice very smooth. The rice is very define and rich in flavour. I don't even mind eating the rice without any meat or side dish. I ate before their mutton briyani and chicken briyani and their meat served was quite tender. The meat after all was not too bad. I love their Ah-char vegetable, it tasted sweet yet sour. A little contradicting but I guess this is what my taste bud tasted it. Overall, I will give 4.5/5 for their Briyani.

This was one of the most unusual breakfast with my husband (he is a very, very small eater). We ordered the deer mutabak only. I swear to God, with the portion's size & the heaviness combined (abundant with egg, cheese and venison) it was sufficient for 6 people so we ended up leaving more than 2/3 of it behind. Taste-wise it was alright. I wouldn't judge whether you or your friend should go to this place since it wasn't our kind of food, but may very well be yours.

The up side is that Singapore Zam Zam is very budget friendly esp. in proportion to such gigantic portion.

Went to get myself a plate of good chicken murtabak for supper after my regular jamming sessions.I was very pleased with the quality of murtabak this stall whips up. The dough is spread large, thick the inner skin is soft and chewy while the outer skin is crispy. The egg is spread out evenly across the murtabak, unlike some stalls which have the eggs concentrated on the center. The chicken meat is well-spiced and full of flavor. Sure it does, and it taste well also. Eating it with the fish curry and sugar is a winning combination for me. Also the prata shape looks more like the typical egg prata instead of kosong. To sum up, i must say for $1, its well worth the money spent. I will definitely come back again.

I felt that the curry given for the murtabak and the briyani was cold and tasted abit salty. The murtabak was overall good as it was crispy and abit chewy. The briyani rice was abit oily, but I guess it is fine. No music was being played in the restaurant, I felt irritated, as people as people surrounding me were all talking and laughing. That disturbed ,my mood for dinner.

After my meal, the bill was brought by the waiter. The bill was well itemize, as I know what i am paying for. I went to the cashier to pay up and I left the restaurant.

The first fragrance when one step into Zam Zam is their nice prata smell. Service was fast as it was very crowded during lunch time and they have to quickly clear the seats so that more people can enter. Their Mutton Briyani is so nice that it will make you want to go back and eat again. The mutton is tender and the rice is flavourful. Shall try their murtabak during the next visit.

One of the best murtabaks I have ever eaten! Besides the usual richness o fthe mutton inside with egg and prata, there is a sprinkling of crispy mutton meat on top. It really adds to the texture of it!The place is like your usual coffeeshop standards but luckily they have an upstairs seating area which is air-conditioned! Otherwise you will sweat like mad. The service is a bit spotty because it takes forever for a staff to notice you.
