One of my usual places to go for lunch would be the North Canteen as it is bigger. I wouldn't have much difficulty finding seats as well. The yong tau foo sold in the North Canteen is relatively cheap whereby you can pick 7 ingredients and then pick if you want any rice or noodles to go with it and which soup.I got the laksa yong tau foo with rice and it only cost me $2.70. Some of the items are fried very deeply such that the meat inside (its a small chicken fillet with skin) has also turned dark brown.I would have preferred it if the stall owners had dice the ingredients into smaller items but i guess when you are in a hurry to serve customers you need to ignore other factors. continue reading

Thinking of having some light for lunch, so order a bowl of Chicken Mushroom noodle. I selected kueh teow as the choice of noodle and have it in soup version. There are 2 sizes : $1.50 for small and $1.80 for large. Not much different in price, so I go for the $1.80 one. The soup tastes quite light and clear. Feel that the mushroom is not braised long enough. continue reading

The noodle stall at north canteen always offers different dish menu for each day. Last few days ago, one of my classmates wanted to go north canteen for lunch as she was craving for the yong tau fu there. As for me, I only ordered yong tau fu from koufu day before, so I decided to try something else. I decided to go for prawn noodle that day.At first I tried the prawn noodle without the chili provided. It tasted light and normal. But after I add on the chili provided. The prawn noodle tasted very nice as the chili really did add in a lot of flavor inside. It made the soup spicier and more salty. LOVE the chili very much!!! continue reading
