Chinese Tea - $1. It's refillable, but the staffs seemed like not considerate enough to refill it immediately when our glass was nearly empty.Peanuts - $2. They charged 2 bucks for this .Wet Tissue - $0.30. Once again, NOTHING IS FREE OF CHARGE here!Braised Beef Noodle - $10.50. It came in a huge bowl . The beef was tender and juicy, and the lamian was springy. The flavorful broth was the best part of this dish.Shrimp Wanton Noodle - $11. It was my friend's order, and I only tried a piece of wanton. The shrimp filling inside was dense and generous.Overall, I enjoyed their lamian, and probably will come back to try their xiao long bao. continue reading

There were few categories of Crystal Jade resided in Singapore. I went to some outlets, the food served was totally different. Had a quick dinner with a friend, we were eating at here. Menu was attractive, probably to attract younger generation. Both of us ordered it, I guessed it was quite famous. Simply decent Fried Rice with Shrimps, Chicken, Ham, Egg and Veggies in traditional style, the taste was great yet lacked of burnt fragrance. The portion was actually not too big, priced at $10.80++. Total of four pieces, we shared. Dipping it with light soy sauce and ginger, I put it directly into my mouth. The soup burst out, what a wonderful taste. It was not difficult to understand why it was so proud of its Dumplings, fantastic for me. Price at $5.20++, it sounded a bit expensive, but must-try. continue reading

It's been a while since our last visit to Crystal Jade and we were pleasantly surprised that their quality of food had improved significantly. We had their set dinner promotion at $38 nett which included 1 La mien, 1 basket of their new Multi-flavoured Xiao Long Bao (4 pcs), 1 appetizer and 1 side dish.Braised Beef La Mien (supplement of $5++)The Braised Beef La Mien was rich and tasty! The beef cubes were tender and flavourful while the noodles were springy and mouth-watering. Although we had to top up a supplement of $5++ as we didn't really fancy the options included in the set menu, it was money well spent! Multi-flavoured Xiao Long BaoHaha, we knew Crystal Jade would definitely come up with their rendition of flavoured XLB and we must say theirs will indeed give Paradise Dynasty a run for their money! We love how succulent yet refined their XLBs are! The 4 flavours – Black Truffle, Spicy Chicken, Original and Vegetable were unique and flavorsome. We were glad Crystal Jade had maintained the quality of their signature "ultra-thin-yet-highly-resistant-skin" that never fails to protect the generous juicy fillings, well done! Egg white with crab meatA classic evergreen dish that can hardly go wrong. We love how the beautiful colours contrast with each other (visually appealing dishes = half the taste buds battle won) and how the textures complement each other. Braised Duck SlicesThe Braised Duck Slices paled in comparison with the other dishes in terms of the quality and taste – we found it a little blend and a tad too oily. Thankfully the meat was relatively tender and easy on the palate though! Ha Kau ($4.50++)Nice, juicy and fat Ha Kaus to satisfy our Dim Sum craving! As with their XLB, we were amazed how Crystal Jade managed to encapsulate the generous fillings using such thin opalescent wraps! Siew Mai ($4.30++)Savoury, luscious and tempting Siew Mais to wrap up our delectable Cantonese dining affair that rekindled our flames for Crystal Jade! continue reading

Everytime when i come to Crystal Jade, their Seafood fried rice and the Xiao Long Bao always my first choice. Their seafood fried rice full of crab meat and fish, and the most important things is the ingredient is fresh. Compare to other restaurant's xiao long bao, i prefer crystal jade one because some of them serve the xiao long bao which already cold and the taste not nice alreay. Btw, crystal jade always the place that I will dinner with my friend. continue reading

My all time favorite from Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao is the "Suan La" La Mian, or Spicy-sour Ramen. So I ordered that for dinner at the branch at Bugis Junction, and was quite taken aback at the color of the soup base. It is darker than usual and I was right. The taste of the suan la soup is very different from what I usually have. Having said that I always ordered this dish since years ago, this definitely taste different and is very salty. The huge portion of the noodles doesn't help at all if the soup base is not good. I left the place without finishing half the noodles because I was very disappointed with the drop of standard. Not sure if I am going to order this dish again. continue reading
