Got the moolah to live the high life for one meal? Head to Guy Savoy at Marina Bay Sands for an unforgettable dining experience. Photo by Absinthe
Expect to pay: Approx. $90++ per pax (a la carte, 3-course meal)
Must-try: Roasted Rack of Lamb, Ragu of Spelt, Green Peas and Beans with Fresh Mint ($46)
Paying tribute to the green-coloured tipple, this warm and cosy restaurant serves up authentic French nosh largely influenced by France's southwest region – which means there’s heaps of meat and seafood on the menu. Food aside, you can’t leave Absinthe without ordering some reasonably-priced wine, and you most certainly should not leave without trying one of their absinthes aka “green fairies”.
Expect to pay: Approx. $40++ per pax (a la carte, 3-course meal)
Must-try: Grilled and Marinated Chicken Leg ($22.80)
Thanks to chef-owner Xavier Le Henaff’s beliefs, TFS Bistrot patrons don’t have to hurt their pockets to enjoy all that French cuisine has to offer. Formerly known as “The French Stall”, this bistro along Serangoon Road focuses on fuss-free dining and inexpensive offerings. Sure, it can get a little warm and feel a tad bit cramped, but hey, look at how much you’re paying for premium stuff. So quit complaining and just dig in!
Expect to pay: Approx. $40+ per pax (a la carte, 3-course meal)
Must-try: Geraldine’s Favourite ($18.90)
Walk along Seah Street and you just might miss this hidden gem. Specialising in crepes, Entre-Nous Creperie makes some of the best savoury and sweet crepes in the country – plus they’re real affordable too. The cheeses used in their savoury crepes are to die for, and their sweet crepes like the Nutella ($10.40) and the ever-popular Homemade Salted Butter Caramel ($9.90) are pure works of (dessert) art. Not be missed, indeed!

Must-try: 3-course weekday set lunch ($45++ and $65++, changes monthly)
Dinner at Au Jardin is the perfect idea for a romantic evening with that special someone. Yet another fine dining concept by the Les Amis Group, this award-winning restaurant is nestled amidst the lush greenery of the Singapore Botanic Gardens and its menu features an array of contemporary French dishes. Evening time isn’t the only great time to visit Au Jardin – there’s a pocket-friendly weekday set lunch to tuck into, as well as a lovely semi-buffet brunch on Sundays and public holidays.
Expect to pay: Approx. $25++ per pax (a la carte, 3-course meal)
Must-try: Poulet Roti ($15.80 for half chicken, $28.80 for whole chicken)
It’s no surprise that Poulet – which means ‘chicken’ in French’ – features a flavour-packed signature dish that’s not to be missed. We can’t decide what we like most about the Poulet Roti – the crispy skin, the creamy homemade mushroom chardonnay sauce or the super moist meat within. There are other items to consider as well at this casual eatery, their mains like the Oxtail de Bourguignon ($15.80) and desserts such as the Caramelised Apple in Puffy Tart ($7.80) are also fab choices.
Expect to pay: Approx. $30++ per pax (a la carte, 3-course meal)
Must-try: Duck Leg Confit ($10.90)
Saveur caught everyone’s attention when word of their $9.90 foie gras got around. But when it dawned upon patrons that the popular starter wasn’t the only shockingly affordable thing on the menu, crowds really started to pour in. The only unfortunate thing is that Saveur does not take reservations and there is almost always a line outside the restaurant during dinner time so be prepared for the long wait.
