What’s better than a piping hot bowl of soup for a cold, wet rainy day? Well, it might not have been raining this fine evening but that didn’t stop our OpenRicers from attending this special Food Tasting session at Changi Road’s Seng Kee, where they spent the night slurping away on soupy mee sua!
Split into two different units (one old and one new) along the same road, the shop may be named after its Black Chicken Herbal Soup but believe it or not, the signature dish is actually the Kidney Mee Sua (pictured above). Priced at $4 for a small bowl and $5 for a big bowl, our OpenRicers enjoyed this wholesome bowl of herbal goodness – which came with delicious chunks of pig organs such as liver and kidney – together with other dishes such as:
• Sambal Tapioca Leaves (pictured above, bottom right, $15 for big plate)
• Steam Promfret Teochew Style (pictured above, bottom left, $25)
• Deep Fried Beancurd Skin Roll with Shrimp ($15)
• Prawn Omelette ($8)
Our OpenRicers were all smiles after the big feast (read the reviews for yourself here). We’re pretty sure they’ll be back for more at this little haunt, which is – to everyone’s delight – open till 4 in the morning. See you there for supper!
