You name it, Jewel’s got it – the new kid on Rangoon Road boasts an extensive menu full of comfort food, cocktails and coffee choices to die for
Little India’s status as a dining hotspot just got a big boost with the addition of Jewel Café + Bar. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Little India’s main streets, this casual chic dining concept is located on Rangoon Road and has a little bit of everything on the menu. From scrumptious comfort food to original cocktails and of course, its signature specialty coffee (does Jewel Coffee ring a bell? Jewel Café + Bar is actually the artisanal coffee house’s second outlet), you can definitely find something to tantalise your taste buds here.
You’ll never want to leave the place
The dining area on the second floor is a good choice if you’re enjoying a cuppa on a lazy weekday afternoon
With such a laid-back vibe to it, Jewel Café + Bar makes it tough to leave the place long after you’ve finished your meal. And trust us, no matter which spot you pick out of the three dining areas – be it the al fresco patio, the cosy second storey, or the main dining area on the first level – you’ll feel the same way.
Superb comfort food all day long
Have fun scooping out the caramelised onions hidden beneath this cheese-capped French Onion Soup
Got a monstrous appetite? Just feeling peckish? There’s nothing more satisfying than some good ol’ comfort food. Cheese lovers would dig the coffee cup-housed French Onion Soup ($8) – gotta love the warm, gooey top layer of Swiss cheese, Parmesan and Gruyère!
Other unique appetisers include Jewel’s rendition of the poke (a Hawaiian raw fish salad), the Shio-Koji Octopoke ($12) – which comes with creamy avocado, shredded ginger flower and lots of wasabi – and the increasingly uncommon Scotch Egg ($9). Over here the molten-centred eggs are wrapped in Kurobuta pork sausage meat, covered in bread crumbs and then deep-fried.
Clockwise from top left: OMG! Burger, Black Cod, Umami Prawn Capellini, Miso Presa Iberico
For those who mean business, order mains such as the much-raved about OMG! Burger ($20) – a crazy stack of bacon, luncheon meat, beef patty (it’s super juicy here!), cheddar, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and a sunny-side-up – or the grilled prawn pasta topped with Jewel’s top-secret umami ‘magic dust’, the Umami Prawn Capellini ($22).
Those a little more health-conscious can opt for the super tasty oven-baked Miso Presa Iberico ($34), or the Black Cod ($32 – pan-fried Chilean black cod with cardinal sauce) – two other must-try creations.
The adventurous would love the Pan-Seared Watermelon Steaks for dessert
For dessert, traditionalists can indulge in classics like Homemade Apple Crumble ($9) or Tiramisu ($12), while the adventurous should dive right into the Pan-Seared Watermelon Steaks ($9). The latter is a refreshing standout treat here at Jewel Café + Bar. Served with homemade pineapple sorbet, this is one creation that’s sweet, sour, salty and warm all at the same time.
Don’t miss out on brunch and some darn good coffee
Brioche French Toast (left) and San Francisco coffee (right)
Brunch and coffee – what a glorious combo! From 9am to 11am on weekdays, and 9am to 3pm on weekends and PH, Jewel Café + Bar whips up some of the most iconic brunch treats for you to savour such as Eggs Royale ($14), Brioche French Toast ($13) and Ricotta Pancakes ($12).
No trip to Jewel Café + Bar is complete without a cup of its artisanal coffee. With plenty of choices listed on the menu and their very own coffee roaster (coming real soon!), coffee connoisseurs can sip on brewed coffees like the Hario V60 Pourover ($6) or cold drip coffees like Portland ($7). Spoilt for choice? Good!
