1. Thai in Town The trend of Thai Wanton Noodles seems to be catching on in our small nation with quite number of new stalls opening in the past few months. It comes as no surprise as locals flock to Bangkok just to have this mouth-watering bowl of goodness. Thai in Town offers authentic Thai Wanton Noodles at an affordable price of $6.90, with thick slices of roast pork, tasty wantons and lots and lots of pork lard for the added taste. 2. Tenkaichi Free-flow Wagyu beef? Yes, please! Indulge and pamper yourself with Tenkaichi’s new and improved Wagyu Beef Yakiniku Buffet. Be wowed by a wide variety of different Wagyu cuts from Short Rib to Rib Eye for just $64.80+ (Monday to Thursday) or $69.80+ (Friday to Sunday). Also enjoy Wagyu Beef Yukke, a Japanese rendition of tatare, marinated with sesame oil and topped with a raw egg. This is a treat and a definite must-try when you visit Tenkaichi. 3. Café Insadong The Korean dessert wave is becoming more prominent in Singapore now as more and more people flock to dessert joints for cafes for Patbingsu (Korean shaved ice dessert). Try their Matcha Patbingsu ($8.50), a generous portion of matcha shaved ice, matcha ice cream, red beans and red bean mochis. Also try their Injeolmi Toast ($4) – Korean glutinous rice sandwiched between two pieces of toast. This dish is simple, but a definite treat. 4. Syun Helmed by world-renowned chef, Hal Yamashita, Syun promises to deliver quality food at affordable prices. Using everyday ingredients with premium Japanese produce, his dishes highlight his belief that the core of good cooking is simplicity. Try: Grilled Cod with Saikyo Miso Yuzu Miso Sauce and Dried Mullet Powder. This delicious dish has a preparation time of close to a week. 5. Sorrel A brand new bistronomy on the block, Sorrel is helmed by Executive Chef Johnston Teo with a specially curated fine dining menu. The food served here is prepared with attention and skill and plated beautifully, so expect envious comments from your friends when you post a photo of it! Try their Pan-Roasted Langoustine and Foie Gras with Roasted Almonds (pictured), a perfect combination of complex flavours and a perfect representation of their attention to detail and smart use of ingredients here. 6. Les Delices Opened by Le Cordon Bleu-trained and graduate, Georgina Sim, Les Delices is a fresh new face on the pastry café scene. Dishing out pretty and photogenic pastries such as Choux (pictured) in a couple of different flavours such as – (from left to right) Earl Grey, Matcha and Valrhona Guanaja. Les Delices also offers coffee and tea for a perfect tea-time combo with your favourite pastries. Other cakes and desserts are also served here. 7. Doi Chaang Coffee Hailing from Doi Chaang village in Chiang Rai, Northern Thailand are the premium Arabica coffee beans that are used in the making of the coffee served at Doi Chaang Coffee. Ranked in the top 1% of all coffee worldwide, you can be assured that only the most premium and carefully curated coffee beans are used here. 8. Black&Ink Joining the list of new cafes in Eunos, is newly opened, Black&Ink. With a reinvented old coffee shop interior and a simple menu, owner and Le Cordon-Bleu graduate, Roy is shooting for a fuss-free tea time spot for anyone to enjoy. Enjoy café standard freshly brewed coffee here, together with their already highly-popular cakes such as Jasmine Green Tea Honey, Orange Poppy and Cheesecake Lychee. 9. Milkcow Joining the likes of other newly opened Korean dessert joints here in Singapore, is one of the pioneers of soft-serve ice cream in South Korea, Milkcow. This milky smooth ice cream is sold with different variations here with various toppings such as cotton candy and honeycomb. Try this: Snow Drop ($5.90) – soft serve topped with cotton candy and jelly beans, also the most photogenic one. The ice cream itself is surprisingly milky and soft, a perfect texture for soft-serve. 10. The Daily Press Many coffee joints have opened up serving fresh coffee with cakes and other sweet treats. However, The Daily Press serves up a range of savoury mains that are fuss free and affordable. Try the Korean Fried Chicken Sandwich ($12) and Babi Ponteh ($12). The latter is a sandwich inspired by the owner’s Peranakan heritage. The coffee served here is from Liberty Café.
