Enter Versailles, a fruity mousse cake by tcc, the brand that brought you gourmet coffees.
Before you pastry snobs dismiss this mousse cake as just another sweet little thing, think again.
First, about the name. Versailles, as we all know, is far from just any home. It is, in fact, a wealthy suburb in Paris, France and renowned for its chateau, fondly called the Palace of Versailles.
So what do glass, palaces and this mousse cake have in common? I'll tell you what. They're all constructed in delicate and intricate ways unknown to normal homes, with precision befitting for royalty.
Glass artist, B. Jane Cowie has collaborated with tcc Pastry Chef Joyce Seet to bring you A Taste of Home, experimenting with fruits, creams, mousses, alcohols, curry and spices, molding them into shapes of houses.
The delicate chocolate shell crumpled as I sank my teeth into it, giving way to a refreshing strawberry flavored cream and aromatic wine swishing about every part of my taste-buds with hints of sweet and sour.
I know, I know. We just tempted you with the desserts at Dessert Ministry, but let's be honest, we'll never truly have enough of these sweet nothings. Besides, what I'm talking about here isn't just about chocolates. It is about the marriage of art and culture and desserts!
Convinced now? Okay awesome! Head down to tcc "The Gallery" from 8 Dec to 3rd Jan 2011 to catch exhibition.
