My family and I were shopping at Marina Square and decided to have some Chinese Food. We chanced upon this Bao Today which sells Dim Sum for the whole day.We ordered a few dim sum from the menu. The steaming hot baskets of Dim Sum order came quite fast even though the restaurant was almost full of customers during lunch hour. The prawn dumpling and scallop dumpling had fresh, crispy whole prawns, though the skin of dumpling was not so moist. The green colour bun was Golden Sands Bun. I was not sure why they coloured it green. FOODThis XO sauce noodle is one of their speciality dish. But actually it taste like instant noodles cooked in XO Sauce with ham, fried egg and vegetables as its sides. It taste a little salty too.The siew mai is not that tasty, and it's quite hard.Finally the bo lo bun taste abit better. It has a crispy crust and soft loaf on the inside. We ordered 10 dim sum item(include on big claypot of congee).. HAha.. Hai, NVM.. Next time, would come and visit again for this 30% discount on 3pm to 5pm.. Haha... Btw, the food was not bad... Especially the scallop and prawn dumpling( see photos above).. We love that, high quality, fresh ingredient = excellent dim sum! HAHA... Btw, I regretted ordering the congee and rice roll, it was quite bad.. Hmm... Ya... (no offence! own view oni la) .. The prawn dumpling and siew mai was good.. esp the prawn dumpling, there are BIG PRAWNS inside.. And the carrot cake was VERY good.. the fried prawn dumpling was as good too! Have a fun shopping trip at Marina Square and decided to settle down for lunch in this Bao Today. The shop is not really that spacious but is still quite cooling and comfortable. The service here is quite fast and polite. Decided to have a simple meal with their chicken glutinous rice in bamboo shoot ($6.80). Portion is alright and is quite fragrant when food is served to me. The rice is fragrant and full of the chicken and mushroom smell. CHicken meat is tender and fresh, the mushroom is also soft and appetizing. After looking online for places to eat at Marina Square, we came across this interesting eatery called Bao Today (包今天) - a cute name possibly trying to mimic 包青天 I think my profile did mention that I'm a fan of dim sum, thus we went there to have our lunch! At Bao Today, there is no service charge, so diners will have to tick their orders on the sheet of paper and submit it together with payment at the counter before any food is served. We didn't have to wait very long for our food, due to the efficient service of the staff. We ordered a steamed chicken glutinous rice in bamboo shoot ($6.80) and a cheesy seafood baked rice ($7.80) to share. I absolutely love the steamed chicken glutinous rice!! Generous amounts of tender chicken with yummy glutinous rice. The cheesy baked rice was good too as it was served steaming hot, and with lots of seafood inside. After eating at this place, my mom and I decided to order the Bao for takeaway as we were attracted how the pictures and how they seem to have very unique boas!This is Bao Today's Black Sesame Bao (2 pcs for $2.60) I love how the bao can still be made really soft even after one day. An the sesame filling inside was like molten lava! I bit into it and the filling burst out. Literally exploded out like thick lava! It stained my shirt (and the stain is still there after repeated wash ): But it was worth it as I think the bao is really good!We also ordered the steamed creamy custard bao (2 pcs for $3)Similarly, the filling also burst to life! A weekend dinner with hubby. We reached the shopping mall at around 5.30pm and started hunting for food first since we didn't really have a proper lunch in the afternoon. At only 5.30pm, the restaurant was almost full but fortunately there was no queue yet. With a mentality of a typical Singaporean, a restaurant with a crowd or long queue must be good, we decided to dine here instead of the Jiaxiang Kolo Mee restaurant opposite, which had only a few tables filled up. Frankly speaking, I didn't come with a lot of expectation. Although the restaurant has been around for so many years, this was actually the first time I was trying out the food here! We got a table outside the restaurant, near John Little.Since we were here at this restaurant, where the name includes "Bao" (Bun), we both felt that we might as well order some buns to try since they should be the restaurants' specialty. I looked through their menu and they have quite a variety of interesting bao that I have not seen before. For instance, the open-faced buns (Half a Bun). When we were still flipping the menu, deciding what to order, suddenly one of the service staff put a glass of grass jelly drink loudly on our table and walked off. I got a rude shock and also puzzled at the kind of attitude of the staff. I am a regular of bao today, especially the branch in Marina Square due to its convenient central location. The chain is famous of its dim sum selection and simple noodle fare. Frequent visits confirmed the fact that they in fact delivers decent sized food servings. The dim sum, especially the siew mai, is relatively fresh. A must try for all that visits. My partner was not feeling all that well that very day. Coupled with the fact that we were in fact having a late dinner so we ordered somewhat lesser than what we normally do. In the end, just a simple century egg porridge for the missus and mai kai for myself. As i said, the siew mai is a must order. The prawns in the ha kao is also fresh as well with the thickness of its skin being nicely judged. Foodies are also encouraged to try their liu sha bao (yellow lotus bun) and curry chicken with rice. However, they do not have a wide variety to choose from. i tried out their beef brisket kuay teow and it was rich in terms of gravy and i feel that they do put in quite abit of beef. it is unlike those stores or restaurants that just place a few pieces of beef. they places in beef tenderloins and beef. i tried out their assorted porridge as well. they offer quite a variety of porridge. in this porridge, it contains scallops, fish and the condiments seen in the picture. it's more of those cantonese porridge which is sticky and to my liking!!this is their prawn beancurd roll which is really crispy.…查看更多

Weekend shopping at marina square and happen to see a restaurant named Bao Today , so decided to give it a try The restaurant has wide variety of items to choose ranging from dim sum such as liu sha bao , deep fried shrimps , chee cheong fun , noodles : wanton mee , dumpling etc , rice , drinks such yuan yang , kopi etc we liked the liu sha bao , cos the filling inside is egg custard and salted egg which melt when in your mouth , the skin of the bun is soft too. They do not charge service charge here, so you are expected to write your orders down on a mini menu chit and pass it to a nearby waitress. Sometimes it's hard to attract the attention of the waitresses, but I guess you shouldn't expect much service here.I am a big fan of custard bao and I still like their serving of Steamed Creamy Custard Bao ($3) which is made out of flowy custard, salted egg filling encased in a nice pandan bao dough. I did notice the buns seemed a little smaller and the fillings are not as generous as before, but still I like the combination of the warm flowing custard filling with their unique pandan bun flavour.I also had their Steamed Carrot Cake with Dried Scallop ($4) which was definitely served hot, as shown in the picture with lots of steam. If you want cheap and delicious dim sum, I will recommend that you visit bao today. Basically, you can order as much as you want without burning a hole in your pocket as the price is really very reasonable. Most importantly, the quality and taste of the food is not compromise despite the fact that the price is relatively lower. This is my second time trying the Kong Ba Pau (braised pork belly in black sauce wrap in bun) and I must say that the place serves one of the best Kong Ba Pau which I have ever tried. Bao Today has a really catchy name (not to be confused with Justice Bao). We had claypot porridge, shrimp and spinach dumpling and custard bun. The claypot porridge was rather tasty. Some people might find it bland but you could add soya sauce if desired. They were very generous with the fresh ingredients like fish slices, scallops and prawns. The shrimp and spinach dumpling was a must try item, but it was rather normal. Good thing the prawns inside the dumpling were fresh and not too overcooked so it still had a nice crunchy bite to it. There was quite little spinach bits though.The custard bun is special. This is the first time I'm having custard bun made with green pandan dough.
