I read that the owner goes to Melaka to buy the Chendol jelly and I believe this. The colour of the jelly is a pale green compared to a bright green which is the normal colour of the Chendol jelly at most desserts. I'm guessing those are the factory produced Chendol jelly with more artificial colour ones.
The gula melaka in this dessert was also very fragrant and authentic! My parents who missed the good ole Chendol from Melaka will be back here on a routine basis now that we have found a hidden gem in the Toa payoh neighborhood!
