This is my first time trying the lor mee from this stall, it is very popular and there will always be a long queue seen. I decided to brave the queue for 10 mins to try it. I ordered the $3 bowl with deep fried shark nuggets. It costs an additional 0.20 for takeaway. It is something different as you wouldn't see this in the usual lor mee. I quite like it as it is very crunchy and the gravy is also very thick and awesome. Do try it if you are around.

My family and I love to go to this place and eat their lor mee. We can especially we will join the queue and come all the way there to eat their lor mee!The queue can be very long during their peak hours, but it's worth waiting! Order their $3.50 more ingredients!!But some friends had tried; say so-so... some said not well, some said it's very nice!Well, up to individual for u to decide is it nice...

The queue was still as long during lunch. I waited for about 10 minutes before i gotta order. My usual order has always been the biggest serving of flat yellow noodle at $3.00. Then, i will added in the extra amount of red cut chillies, chilli paste and garlic paste. When mixed it well, a delicious bowl of Lor Mee awaits.

The main selling point of this Lor Mee has always been their fried shark fish nuggets. It does not have the usual braised egg nor ngor hiang but with fish cake, boiled meat and some crispy bits together with the shark fish nuggets. Their shark fish nuggets have always been nicely battered then deep fried to give it a nice crispiness that complement the thick groovy sauce quite well.

And for those that so used to the traditional style of Lor Mee might not appreciate such a bowl of Lor Mee. My sister is one of them and she did not like it. The minus point for this Lor Mee could be they did not serve it with braised meat but boiled meat. The boiled meat tasted a little bland if eaten by itself.

All in all, it was still an enjoyable bowl of Lor Mee.

I have eaten this in the past, but then I started picking it up and then it ended as a favorite whenever lunch hour is around going to the office.The gooey soup with kway tiao (choosing rice instead of egg noodles as a healthier version and to avoid acne pimples) and the shark fritters which I don't believe (poor sharks but I dont mind if its normal fish) is just as addictive the more you eat it.It doesn't need to be introduced again, with a bowl of $2.50, the gooey soup gives you the sense of f

The gooey soup with kway tiao (choosing rice instead of egg noodles as a healthier version and to avoid acne pimples) and the shark fritters which I don't believe (poor sharks but I dont mind if its normal fish) is just as addictive the more you eat it.

It doesn't need to be introduced again, with a bowl of $2.50, the gooey soup gives you the sense of fulfillment in your tummy with a tablespoon++ of black vinegar and chopped spring onions, adding that zing of freshness and eliminating the fishy after taste.

Even the lady now knows me asking "are you studying here" and with the articles pasted all over their board, again, no introduction needed as even Singapore-based mangaka artist (i forgot the name but i've met him for real) drew this famous lor mee as a Singaporean dish must-try!

There are two shark's meat lor mee stalls at Tiong Bahru Hawker Centre. Having tried the other stall for already a few times, I decided to queue for the one from this stall which had an equally long queue too. For $2.50, there was quite a lot of noodles served. The pieces of shark's meat were also quite big. There were fewer other ingredients in the bowl- just a few pieces of pork, fishcake and ngoh hiang. The bowl noodles was still slurping good because the gravy was thick and flavourful. Satis

i have never been a fans of hawker food. but this chinese braised noodle, lor mee changes my view of having a satisfy meal on a sunday morning.Not pretty sure Lor mee origin from which country, but the one i had in Malaysia, gravy was slightly different and they uses yellow thick noodle. The tiong bahru Lor mee, served with shark choose to serve deep fried shark meat as their specialty and it only cost SGD3.00 for a bowl of joyful meal! but the serving were moderate.

The stall can be easily to be spotted on a crowded sunday morning, just go for the longest queue among all other stalls.

Don’t be surprise when you see a long snaking queue in front of Lor Mee 178 during peak hours. Especially on Sunday mornings, people staying at all different corners of Singapore flock down to Tiong Bahru just to eat this Lor Mee. There are other stores selling Lor Mee too! The shark meat fritters were deep fried in batter till it’s so crispy on the outside and soft at the inside. Somehow, it tasted like good quality battered fish fillet to me.

On top of their specialty which attracts so many customers, they have a huge generous portion of noodles and ingredients too! There are some slices of crispy fried fish, ngoh hiang and a generous amount of crispy flour bits, fish cakes. As for the gravy, it’s thick and flavourful with traces of egg white. I can’t deny that it was so good till I finished up everything!

Though this is not the original Tiong Bahru Lor Mee from the old Tiong Bahru market but it has got me to fall in love with it and have been a regular since then.I enjoy eating the fried sharkfish nuggets and always ordered an extra portion to go with my Lor Mee. I love my Lor Mee with extra red cut chilli, extra garlic paste and extra red chilli paste too. This Lor Mee does not come with egg and ngor hiang but the sharkfish nuggets do make up the difference.
