Best tom yam soup i ever had

I love to eat thai food and the food here impressed me. I love the hot and spicy slighty creamy tom yam that reminds me of eating at thailand itself. The pandan chicken is also one of my favourites. The satay is another must-try. Juicy and retaines moisture as its on lemongrass sticks. Not forgetting the bbq cuttlefish. Tender but not too chewy. The cozy ambience makes it nice for a nice lunch date. A very satisfying meal. Definitely a must to come-back to try the other dishes!

The best of thai

The plates were already neatly layed on when we were ushered to our seats. The cutlery was also clean which gave us a good impression of the restaurant. There was also a spectacular view overlooking Katong from our seats. It was one of the best places to people watch and enjoy great food at the same time.Service staff at this restaurant were friendly and very efficient.  Service staff at this restaurant were friendly and very efficient. Our food did not take long to arrive and they very attentive when it came to special requests (such as less chili/more chili/no onions etc) which made me feel very valued as a patronizing customer. Cold water/warm water was available free of charge upon request along with chili with soya sauce; one of my favorite counterparts when it comes to chinese/thai cuisine. We could also choose our own seats when the restaurant was not swamped with people (which is pretty much always the case). This is one of the quite/laid back outlets in comparison to the rest of the Bali Thai restaurants.

 Dish 1: Kang Kong with chili. A simple yet flavorful dish. The kang kong was not over or under cooked and it's stalks retained their crispyness. I loved the outburst of spicy chili padi's which could be found in the midst of the dish. Very well done and not a tad oily. Perfect! 10/10

Dish 2: Hot Plate Black pepper Tofu (can be ordered with or without egg)

I chose without egg of course as I was not really a fann. I loved the delicious black pepper gravy and the idea that the dish came pipping hot to us (the way it is supposed to). There was yummy cubes of tofu along with other sauted vegetables like mushrooms, peppers, cauliflowers, broccoli and carrots! The combination was mouth watering and the vegetables tasted naturally sweet and fresh! 8/10

Dish 3: Yellow Thai Curry

This is probably one of the nicest curries I have ever tasted. The gravy is a creamy base filled with yummy vegetables which were similar to the Hot plate Tofu dish. There was also a tinge of ginger which gave it that extra burst of flavor. This dish is highly recommended for its detectable goodness 10/10

Our food was accompanied by a serving of white rice charged at $2.50 per person if I'm not wrong. However, one could always get another helping for free


Note: I love how Bali Thai makes vegetarians feel at home with their own individual menu. There is a vast variety of dishes available and the pricing is not too outrageous. In fact, its worth it seeing that the food is up to standard. I also like the idea that the dishes are so wholesome due to the variety of vegetables added to one dish. There is never a dull moment at bali thai! They also have a couple of fun drinks on the menu to compliment the dishes.

I will be sure to visit again!

If you're looking for a veggie friendly thai restaurant in the east that hardly has a crowd on weekends, Bali Thai is the place to go to! I was so excited when my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this outlet for dinner. I was also impressed that Bali Thai had their own vegetarian menu which catered to vegetarians (very impressive).This dish was basically deep fried tofu that was cooked with egg on the inside. If you're looking for a veggie friendly thai restaurant in the east that hardly has a crowd on weekends, Bali Thai is the place to go to! I was so excited when my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this outlet for dinner. I was also impressed that Bali Thai had their own vegetarian menu which catered to vegetarians (very impressive).

 This dish was basically deep fried tofu that was cooked with egg on the inside. It was very crispy and came with its own sweet dipping sauce. 7/10

 Vegetarian Tom Yam Soup. This is only for those who love spicy food as I must say the soup was extremely spicy! There was a very generous amount of vegetables in the soup such as corn, capsicums, tofu, carrots, cherry tomatoes and cauliflower. No doubt it was on the pricy side but it was more then sufficient for two people 8.5/10

 The vegetarian fried rice might look simple but it was very tasty even without the need for soya sauce. It would be ideal if more vegetables were included in the dish though 7/10

 Hot plate tofu was indeed the best dish of the night! The dish contained cubes of tofu with mixed vegetables and peppers. The gravy was delicious and had a nice soya sauce taste to it. We definitely loved it. MUST TRY! 9/10

We had also got kalamanci juice and orange juice


We spent about $60 for 2 people in all. Though it was pricey, it was a satisfying meal
I will definitely be back!

Deep fried fish

If you like really crispy deep fried fish, the one here at Bali Thai will be really a great option for you. The fish is quite big in portion and every parts of the fish (even its fins and fish bones) are all deep fry till very crispy and in nice golden brown colour. The sweet thai sauce used in it is also very tasty and not too sweet, really ideal and blend in well with the fish. Price is quite alright as well.
